Hi, my name is Freya and I am 18 years old. I am currently studying a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology with Oceanography. I received a Grade 8 in GCSE biology and an A* throughout A-Level biology. I also received a Grade 9 in GCSE mathematics and an A in A-Level maths. I am very confident in these two subjects and would be delighted to welcome any new students. I believe all students should achieve their full potential and I can help to do that by helping with exam techniques, tips, information and practice questions :)
I'm enthusiastic about science and have a specific interest in Astrophysics. I have a PhD in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Southampton.
To fund my PhD, I received a Mayflower scholarship, which required me to teach 25% of my time there. I assisted teaching of several different courses ranging from first to fourth year physics including maths, laboratories, electromagnetism etc.
I also helped to mark problem sheets, exams, course work as well as presentations. Moreover, I was a tutor and had regular tutorials with my tutees. I guided them academically whilst also making sure that they were settling in well into university life.
As part of my teaching experience at university, I have taught students with a range of abilities and from different cultural backgrounds, including non-native speakers.
I am experienced online tutor in Maths and Science. Sessions are held via Zoom and I use a writing tablet to go through ideas, concepts and calculations. I always adapt the content of my sessions to suit the different exam boards and curricula.
One-to-one and group sessions as well as online lessons available.
I understand that each person has a different learning style and I adapt my tutoring sessions to reflect this. I'm friendly and personable and aim to put every student at ease because learning shouldn't be stressful. I'm happy to teach Science and Maths for all age groups ranging from primary school to A-levels or equivalent and Physics up to undergraduate level. I'm also happy to teach German for all age groups as I'm a native speaker.
I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate, volunteer at a local preschool group and have three children of my own.

My name is Ronja and I did my A levels in biology, chemistry and physics not long ago. So I know exactly how hard they can be to master, but that's why I'd love to help you understand them better! I have a passion for science and will be doing my degree in it, and got A*s in both subjects, so I have a strong knowledge in both and have tutored my friends and others before on both as well. Hello my name is Annabel and I’m a second year Dentistry student and I have 3 years of formal tutoring experience an excess of 500 hours both online and in person, I work with students of all levels and most exam boards from Primary all the way up to A-Levels. I hope to share my extensive knowledge of the specifications and my experience from working with numerous examiners of all levels. After leaving education I have not stopped tutoring which a lot of my students find incredibly helpful as I can help teach from a students perspective as I have both experience first hand of the courses (including the new specification GCSEs) but also a lot of experience as a tutor.
I try to add humour, acronyms and real life examples to my lessons to really interact with my students and help cement the concepts that I am teaching, as no one is going to remember boring textbook facts! I have spent a lot of my spare time researching memory and the best ways to teach and revise after seeing myself, colleagues and current students not maximising their potential through revision and understanding. I use spaced repetition incorporating ideas I have previously taught into new lessons through mini quizzes, linking similar concepts together and allowing the student to do this themselves via prompts. Alongside this due to my knowledge of exam boards, I can spot common questions and help students to use the question to form their answer if something like a formula was forgotten. Which based on purely the exam technique tips I can provide, students have even gone up 1 level just based on this.
I hand tailor all of my lessons to the individual pupil and really listen and attempt to understand their learning style incorporating this and their own ideas into my lessons in order to make it the more effective for time and enjoyable and engaging for that student.
