Hi, my name is Palvasha, I'm currently a medical student taking a year out and am available to tutor students who would like to improve their GCSE Maths, Biology or Chemistry. I have achieved 8's in these subjects at GCSE and A's in my A-Level's just a couple of years ago so I understand the stress that students go through with these subjects and have successfully found techniques in achieving my desired grades. I am available to tutor at your preferred times especially if you decide for our sessions to be online. Looking forward to hearing from you.

During my undergrad, I’d my first experience tutoring. I taught younger first year students biology as a volunteer at the Christian campus fellowship. It was a face to face in class session. The students succeeded in their exams and we had reports of students scoring above 94% in their exams.

I believe all students can reach their maximum potential if time is taken to find the learning style best suited to them. No question is a silly question and I am happy to help even outside of teaching time where possible. I am currently a first year medical student at the University of Leeds, so I know a thing or two about working hard. It hasn’t been easy to get to this position but with the right mentorship, I believe anything is possible. My teaching style will consist of a range of learning the knowledge as well as applying it through active recall, mini tests (scores do not matter) and past paper questions which can be worked through independently as well as with me. I believe variation is key to finding the best learning style for a student as well as being aware that we all make mistakes and they are there to learn from. I have both mentorship and tutoring experience having taken part in a programme in college to help struggling GCSE students. Many of them managed to exceed their expectations and one student even jumped from a 5 in Maths to an 8 in GCSE with the right teaching methods.
In terms of tutoring, I have 1 year of experience teaching students of all abilities. Each student has had their grade increase by at least 1 and their confidence and willingness to learn has improved considerably. No matter your confidence level, I will be able to help you. I am excited to be able to help other students achieve the grades they deserve and are capable of.

Having studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University alongside coaching the university football team I chose to go into teaching as I enjoyed combining my science knowledge with my ability to explain methods to young people. Seeing young people improve was extremely rewarding and I wanted to put this in an educational setting. I have been a Head of Year and am now Head of a large Science Department. This allows me to keep in touch with new teaching methods and discuss with colleagues ways to help pupils improve especially with essay writing in Biology and data analysis. I am also part of the local AQA hub and therefore I am very aware of where pupils make errors in exams and how to improve in these areas.

Secondary Maths teacher, with 5 years of tutoring experience. I enjoy teaching, and I have a good understanding of various teaching techniques which help different types of students. Every student is unique hence they require a customised learning program designed for them. I am able to adapt to these learning styles and try my very best to help my students achieve the best they can.

I am a Biomedical Scientist at Manchester Royal Infirmary in the NHS. I am very passionate about teaching and my students always achieve excellent results, improving on their previous. They leave my sessions understanding what they have learnt, and not just remembering the answers. My passion for science and maths brings enthusiasm to my tutoring. My communication skills enable me to develop a friendly and comfortable learning environment and I am easily able to adapt my explanation to suit the student, helping them develop a thorough understanding of the subject. I have successfully held apprenticeship programmes with McDonalds helping many people aged 16+ gain a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (GCSE equivalent A*-C).

Having worked with such a range of students in different subjects, I've had plenty of time to refine my tutoring style and approach. In our first session (which is free by the way) I want to achieve 2 things; firstly I want to get to know you as a student. What are you struggling with? What approach would work best for you? How can we be as time-efficient as possible? Secondly, I want you to see how I teach so you know what to expect. Once we have those goals ticked off, we can plan ahead for our next sessions. I like for my students to let me know ahead of time what they would like to cover, but I also understand that sometimes things come up and the plan changes. I also keep a focus on exam technique, it's so easy to know the content but be missing the application part so I ensure to build exam skills into each session. I am also always happy for you to send me any practice questions you have done so I can mark them and we can go over feedback in the session.

I find the best way to learn subjects such as science and maths are to practise them and put your skills into use. However, I understand that if the foundations for these subjects have not yet been built it can feel disheartening only doing practise questions. That is why before teaching u first assess the level that my student is currently at, identify weaker areas and then proceed to teach and test in an engaging and interactive way. Another one of my main principles is making sure my teaching is thorough, covering all course content is key to great grades.
I myself am a 2nd year medical student at the University of Manchester and am from Harrogate, I have always loved science but also have a passion for languages. I have tutored before back at home and through that found I have a love of teaching and sharing knowledge. I have also taught English and Spanish these past two summers in camps- I think knowing something is one skill but being able to convey and teach that information in a helpful way is another skill which through practice I believe I have attained.
I would love to start teaching again I help will help you get the grades that you need!
