I am extremely committed to working with a range of young people to help them reach their academic potential. This includes an emphasis on working with those who have special educational needs. I understand that an individual approach is crucial, to learn about each child’s strengths and weaknesses. I am an Assistant Head of Middle School and a highly experienced teacher with over 20 years of providing an exceptional learning environment across a wide range of schools. These schools have included rural communities and inner-city academies within the UK, alongside international schools in Germany, Italy, America and the Cayman Islands. One of my outstanding strengths is my real-world experience outside teaching. After completing my "A" levels in Maths, Psychology and Law I achieved a 2:1 degree in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Teesside. I earned the accolade of "Student of the Year" for my academic performance. I then made the decision to put my skills and knowledge into practice by joining Royal Mail as an "International Operational Manager" at Heathrow airport, where I designed the most efficient airmail routes in a dynamic time sensitive industry. I then took up my long-term goal of teaching by completing a PGCE in Secondary Maths at Newcastle University. Over the years I have combined my real-world experience with my teaching skills to provide an engaging context within which to learn mathematics. I have a natural gift in making immediate professional relationships with students, gaining confidence and engagement through a genuine interest in the people I meet. I believes strongly in the uniqueness of each student and I approach everyone as an individual to be understood and tailors my tone and teaching to meet their specific needs. I am a highly adaptive teacher who builds my sessions around the student, rapidly creating a lesson structure which sees student learning styles as an opportunity to drive performance. I agree short and long term goals with the student, ensuring they underpin every lesson.
Over the last year I have enhanced my skills in providing high quality online lessons, developing a delivery style which overcomes any technological barriers and are as equally engaging as face to face sessions. I enjoy making lessons creative and with real life contexts so that the children can see the purpose for their learning ready for when they enter the adult world. I like to keep the lessons at a good pace to maximise their concentration and focus. A good light hearted sense of humor with positive encouragement is the approach I find works best for when I tutor to provide the child with self-esteem and confidence in themselves.

I've worked with children aged 5-17 for the past few years, volunteering at schools, local girl guiding groups and working over in America. I have a range of knowledge and skills to help tutor your child in any areas needed, and I'm also available to babysit or childmind on weekends or school holidays.
I have the patience and time to work 1-1 with any child no matter their age or abilities. I often work with SEN children, helping them with reading, maths and literacy.
I started off by babysitting cousins and family friends when they were younger, before moving on to volunteering at my local Rainbows unit (girls aged 5-8). I spent a few hours every Thursday night with these girls, doing crafts and fun activities to keep them engaged, entertained and motivated to earn more badges. When I got older I started volunteering at a local primary school where I had the chance to observe teachers and see how the classroom looks like on a day to day basis. I learned the fundamentals of teaching from my time there. I worked with children all throughout the school, helping with reading, writing, maths, literacy and art jobs. This is also when I spent time 1-1 with SEN children that needed that little extra help. Just before I decided to become a TA, I spent a summer in America working at a camp in Massachusetts. My time here was valuable and I spent a lot of time learning other ways on how to enrich a child's education. Most my time was teaching them arts and crafts, which is my specialty, but I also looked after them 24/7 becoming their Big Sister whilst away from home.

Hello. I am an enthusiastic young person that loves Maths. I have had 7 years of tutoring experience.
I am able to help the students with:

- revise for an exam
- teach areas that the students are not as comfortable with
The first lesson will normally be a test just so that I can see where the students are at. This will help me identify which topics the student is best at and which ones need a little more practice.

Hello and welcome to my tutoring profile. To give context, I was a Teaching Assistant for 15 years and worked across all areas of primary levels from Nursery up to year 6. I finished my career being the leading Teaching Assistant in neurodiverse children as I have a passion for all children to have the education they deserve. I am an extremely caring, empathetic person with a passion for children’s education.
I planned, delivered and evaluated focus groups on a daily basis, often with the purpose to encourage cooperative engagement with other pupils. In addition, I had key children, who I would track their journey, in order to ensure they were meeting the key markers set out in the curriculum.
I would liaise with parents/carers on a daily basis. I created exciting multi-sensory environments which inspired and aided classroom learning.
I’ve worked alongside a variety of teachers when working in years 4,5 & 6 which allowed me to familiarise myself with the KS2 curriculum. I have 5 years’ experience working in Year 6 giving me a wealth of understanding of preparation for SATS, with children across all abilities.
In addition, I ran the school choir and school eco group. With the choir they would perform in assemblies, nursing homes and the local community. The eco group tended an allotment alongside people in the community as well as projects of planting using recycled materials around the school.
I believe children’s education should be an all-rounded experience and we should invest in them wholly and wisely as they are our future generation.
