I specialise in Online English tuition, covering all texts in the GCSE and KS3, along with essay writing practice and exam revision. My services also include online adult functional skills tuition. My mission is to help students become more confident in their English skills and to provide them with the tools and strategies for success.
A little about me in the school setting
My roles have allowed me to build on a range of areas that I have been interested in for some time. My focus on ‘pedagogy’ has been developed towards ‘praxis’ – the idea that one reflects and acts uponp ractice to transform it. What I have learnt is that a narrow focus on the classroom isn’t enough. Instead,an effective system is one which develops productive and synergistic relationships between learners,families, and the community, and that a deep understanding of the context in which you work, the locality and the culture in which learners live is crucial. I believe we have started on exciting journey here proceeding and developing positively on recent Ofsted feedback – building on those to ensure that learning really is a community endeavour in the best possible sense. My ‘curriculum’ will not stop at the door of a classroom, or the school gate but will be a transforming powerhouse for all living in the community. This, in practical terms could be parenting support in the form of coaching and peer support; providing evening classes in basic skills, parental revision classes to help them best assist their child. It could be using the school buildings as a base of local CPD provision, for meetings, for collaboration among local departments.

Hello! I’m Sarah and I’m a Classical Soprano in my final year at the Royal Northern College of Music. I would describe myself as open, vibrant, and engaging. I have extensive experience in live classical and operatic performance and received a distinction in my Grade 8 singing exam, as well as 3 A* at A-Level, including A-Level music. I am an experienced tutor, currently teaching 6 students and happy to take on more. I am also well-versed in coaching students through ABRSM exams. I am accustomed to all levels of singers and am very happy to teach both children and adults. Childcare and Early years, is an area of education that I am very enthusiastic about and I would like the opportunity to make learning for others as enjoyable and fulfilling as my own has been. As a teacher, it is my role to provide opportunities for all, regardless of ability, and to ensure that everyone has a positive experience. Throughout my time in education I have always had a passion for teaching this lead me to complete a BA Hons in Education Studies. Where in my first year I studied topics such as Historical and Contemporary issues and teaching and learning in the primary sector. In addition, the second year of my degree I went on to study Philosophy of Education this gave me great insight into the contributions of key philosophers to our understanding of education, ranging from classical thinkers such as Plato and Aristotle to contemporary ones including Paulo Freire and Richard Rorty. This was one of my favourite topics as I found all the different theories very interesting. Furthermore, I have also undertaken placement while successfully completing my PGCE at Bolton College, it was here which provided me with an invaluable insight into different teaching styles and assessment strategies. One of the modules I undertook while studying for my PGCE was promoting positive behaviour. I feel very passionate about this topic and find all the different theories behind it very interesting. I also used some of them in my teachings for example Lev Vygotsky believe we should support students learning by assessing their prior knowledge and then giving them tools to increase this knowledge. This is done by letting the student figure out how to use the tools, to encourage them to move on to the next level of learning. ‘What a child can do today with assistance, tomorrow she will be able to do by herself’ this quote was coined by Vygotsky himself and backs up his beliefs. It is my intention to combine my array of experiences with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic and approachable tutor who will make a positive influence. I believe my academic achievements and experience to date will provide a solid foundation to build on and transfer my knowledge and skills into providing the finest learning environment. My own academic experiences have reinforced my belief in the great importance of education and also helped me develop a number of key skills and abilities which have enabled me to develop as a scholar and an individual. I am hardworking, determined, dedicated and feel that I can offer a substantial contribution to the competences required for the position.

I am a 32 yr old care leaver. I am an experienced Class teacher and Middle Leader at Primary School level. I am also a governor for a school, and have helped schools in my role to achieve a “Good” rating during their Ofsted inspection. I was nominated two years in a row for the Jewish teaching awards. I am currently a Year 4 Class teacher and Computing Co-Ordinator at King David Primary School (Manchester). I joined the school in January 2020 as a Year 5 teacher.
