I am an Educational Advisor with more than 25 years of teaching, teacher training, and school evaluation experience. I began my teaching career with the British Council as an English teacher. I taught children and adults of all ages in Bahrain, Pakistan, Portugal and Jordan. I became an IELTS examiner in 1996 and continue to exam candidates for the British Council. In 2001 I trained to teach primary aged children in England and started my primary school teaching career in one of the most underprivileged areas of the United Kingdom. I have taught children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and children for whom English is not their first language. As a founding member of an international school, I helped to establish the English as an Additional Needs and Special Education Needs Department. I became an Assistant Headteacher (Director of Learning) of the school of Ljubljana, successfully led pedagogical change and raised attainment in English as well as Maths, in each of my final three years at the school. I have worked on school evaluation teams for the Council of International Schools (COIS) and trained to inspect British Schools Overseas. I have evaluated schools in Kuwait, Southern Turkey, Eastern Turkey , Oman, and Belgium. I have made strategic recommendations about teaching and learning in early years, primary and secondary phases of schools and written reports that highlight school achievements and signpost future development. I started training teachers when working for the British Council in Pakistan in 1996. Teacher Training was a focus of my Masters Degree in Education and the delivery of a wide range of professional development workshops to trainee teachers and experienced practitioners has been a key aspect of my career ever since. I have mentored and trained teachers in a wide variety of educational contexts, including the educationally low resourced context of Pakistan. I was appointed to a teacher training project in Bangladesh in March 2020 but unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, I was evacuated from Dhaka. Since then, I have been teaching and delivering teacher training webinars online. Although I did not plan to become an online teacher, I enjoy using all my experience to provide a high quality learning experience in this new online environment. |
