I am a passionate musician with 18 years of experience and have performed in a variety of ensembles around the world ranging from classical orchestras, pop orchestras to Operas, Ballet and Jazz bands. As well as musical theater shows and Scottish traditional ensembles such as the Grit Orchestra. As a teacher I am trying to help my students find their own musical identity and sound using various techniques and exercises in order to allow them to reach their full potential. In my lessons I will not only focus on the technical aspects of playing but i will also focus on finding the correct body posture as this affects how connected and blended the sound is with the movement. Focusing on the correct body posture prevents injuries, as holding the violin is already an unnatural position of the body and can cause tension on the upper back and neck. Therefore finding ways to relax the muscles as much as possible while playing will make the student feel much more at ease for extended periods of time. Most importantly my aim is to make learning the violin as enjoyable as possible. |
