I currently work for a University in Scotland. My specialty and particular areas of interest are care of the older person, infection prevention and control and mental health issues, especially dementia. As well as a tutor role, I facilitate personal pastoral and academic guidance to, BA Health Studies HNC and HND Care and Administration Practice (1st and 2nd year university) and Access to nursing groups. I also liaise with partner universities to support current students into articulation into 2nd and 3rd year at university. As a GTCS registered teacher, I also support and supervise lecturers undertaking postgraduate studies and I have mentored new staff members in the study for their teaching qualification. Formal appraisal and feedback from colleagues, managers, and students indicate my passion for facilitating excellence in nursing practice. In an enthusiastic manner and using a range of learning, teaching, and assessment strategies, I deliver interesting interactive lessons in line with quality assurance standards. Feedback from colleagues and management also note that my oral, written, and IT skills are excellent. Hence, the student learning experience is enhanced by promoting a virtual learning environment using Turnitin and other appropriate strategies. I assist the students with UCAS applications and provide references and details of attendance and attributes. As a professional Lecturer and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy committed to excellence in learning and teaching, the student is placed at the centre of academic activity. |
