First Class History graduate from the University of Oxford teaching History (GCSE and A-Level) and English Literature (GCSE and A-Level). 3 years tutoring experience. My tutoring approach is predominantly centred around essay practice. As this is the crux of both History and English Literature, together we will explore the optimum structure, language and content for both GCSE and A-Level essays. Independent practice essays created from the student's exam syllabus will be set and marked by me, before being discussed and improved in the lesson. In History classes, key dates and events will be discussed for the specific papers taken by the student and memorised through main categories of analysis: causation and impact. In English classes, we will discuss key passages in the proscribed exam texts, exploring their meaning, imagery, language and technique. Alongside teaching History and English, I also have experience preparing students for both school entrance exams and interviews, and university entrance exams and interviews. I would happily tutor in these sectors too. A typical lesson would last an hour, with an occasional piece of independent homework. Having studied both History and English Literature at A-Level (achieving A* in both), I have a good understanding of the requirements and study techniques needed. I have also just complete my degree in History at the University of Oxford, graduating with First Class honours, and thus would be in the position to support students seeking to apply and sit the History Admissions Test (HAT). I also worked as a tutor at Kumon for three years, developing strong teaching skills. I am passionate and hardworking and, having just finished my degree, am seeking to impart the skills and knowledge I learned. As a friendly and supportive person, I believe the best way to achieve is through steady yet constant work in a warm environment, allowing mistakes to be made and learned from. Open to learning new things, I am ready to take on all manner of boo |
