From my teaching experience I know that in the pressured and target-driven environment of a modern school it is often difficult or impossible for teachers to give individual students as much attention, on a one-to-one basis, as they would like to. This means that pupils do not always get the most out of the classroom experience and are sometimes left feeling unsure about new concepts and lack confidence about their level of ability in Maths. Having a personal tutor allows students to overcome this and ask the questions that they wanted to ask in class. I’ve taught Maths for over 20 years and provide personalised tuition tailored to the individual needs of the student, based on their strengths and weaknesses. I explain difficult concepts to students in a variety of different ways and show them how seemingly different topics link together to help build their overall understanding of Maths. Above all I try to make learning a positive and rewarding experience which will boost students` self-confidence and help them to achieve their potential. Maths is a rewarding and exciting subject, but the demands on the student are becoming increasingly challenging with the new GCSE and A Level specifications. I’ve taught Maths across all the Key Stages to all different levels of ability and know that personalised tuition can make a real difference. I offer feedback to parents so that they and the student know that progress is being made. |
