Royal Conservatoire of Scotland | Glasgow | Music | Master | Distinction |
My youth was all consumed by my devotion to learning the cello and piano. I studied music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with cello as my principal instrument. However after some years as a cello performer, I started teaching both instruments. Increasingly, I have gravitated more towards teaching the piano and this is the job I now do with much passion.
I began teaching piano privately 15 years ago and I find it immensely satisfying. In terms of teaching online, I am most comfortable teaching beginner up to grade 5/6 but I have experience of teaching up to the grade 8 level (face to face). I could not have imagined until recently that online piano lessons could work so well, I find that it suits some students just as well as face to face (bizarrely in a few cases, better).
I offer a classical training as I was taught. I do my best to adapt my teaching to suit individuals and to me it does not matter in the least how slow or how fast a student learns piano, and whether or not they wish to work towards ABRSM/Trinity exams. The exams are a useful tool for providing a goal to work towards but are not for everyone.
It is in my nature to be organised and I enjoy spending time preparing for lessons so that I can give my best to each student. |
