Lucy is a classical Soprano based in Greater Manchester, UK: recently graduated with first class BMus (Hons) in Vocal Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Jane Irwin. Lucy has performed at esteemed venues throughout the UK and abroad, including: The Royal Albert Hall, The Bridgewater Hall, Snape Maltings and The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Paris. At 21, Lucy made her BBC Proms Solo Debut in Haydn's 'The Creation' at The Royal Albert Hall, with the BBC Philharmonic and BBC Proms Youth Choir - conducted by Omer Meir Wellber - live on BBC Radio 3. For this performance, Lucy received a mention in The Guardian.
Having developed international acclaim, Lucy was selected by 'Gaulitana: A Festival of Music’, to participate in a master class and concert with internationally renowned Maltese soprano Miriam Gauci in Gozo, Malta and was subsequently offered a principal role in Puccini's 'Manon Lescaut'. Lucy also participated in Melofonetica's 'Veneto Opera Summer School' in August - after being awarded a 'Badoer Dalla Rizza' scholarship - where she performed a principal role in Monteverdi's 'Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria' in the historic Teatro Eleonora Duse, Asolo. Recently, Lucy was invited to compete in the 'V. International Music Competition Triomphe de l'Art' in Brussels, Belgium. Lucy accepted a place on the 'Mascarade Opera Studio' Opera Summer School, Florence 2020, and also on Angel Blue's virtual 'Opera Training Studio'.
Lucy has worked with esteemed conductors, including: Omer Meir Wellber, Sakari Oramo, David Parry, Richard Cooke and Martin Andre, alongside acclaimed orchestras including: BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Lucy has received coaching from many professionals within her field including: Janice Chapman, Christopher Purves, Susan Bullock, Martin Pickard, Richard Wiegold, John Ramster, Julius Drake and Matteo Dalle Fratte.
Alumna of the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music, Lucy studied under the tutelage of Mezzo-Soprano, Margaret McDonald. At Chetham’s, Lucy was awarded the 'Judith and Henry Tankel Memorial Prize for Singing Excellence' (2017).
Lucy performs frequently as a recitalist and her performances have taken her to; ‘Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery’, ‘Parbold Douglas Music’, ‘St Mary in the Baum’, ‘Leigh Music Society’, 'Uppermill Music Festival', ‘Manchester Cathedral’ and ‘The Stoller Hall’. Equally at ease with contemporary repertoire, Lucy participated in Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera (2018), (with principal roles in the premieres of contemporary operas ‘Out to Lunch’ and ‘In The Hope of Rain’) and also performing the Mezzo Soprano Solo in the world premiere of ‘Sonetos del Amor Oscuro’ by Maña Mesas (2017). Further operatic credits include the total role in ‘Iolanthe’ (2019) with MUGSS and chorus roles in ‘Suor Angelica’, ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’, ‘La Bohème’ and ‘Don Giovanni’.
As a member of The National Youth Choir of Great Britain, Lucy has performed in the presence of The Royal Family - live on the BBC - in both the UK and abroad. Further choral engagements have included: Snape Proms (2018), BBC Proms (2018), Mahler ‘Symphony No. 3’ with Dame Sarah Connolly and ‘John Rutter’s Christmas Festival’ with Elin Manahan Thomas.
An accomplished composer (past student of Dr. Jeremy Pike), Ms F. was awarded first prize in Chetham’s Biennial Carol Competition (2016) with her piece ‘A Saviour’s Lullaby’. This piece received its premiere in Manchester Cathedral, and appeared on BBC Primetime Programme ‘Christmas City’. Lucy was commissioned to write opening credits for Leigh Film Festival and her piece ‘Sentiment’, for solo euphonium and brass band, was entered into a time capsule in St. Peter’s Square - Manchester (2016), commemorating the completion of the ‘Metrolink’.
Lucy is the Event Manager of the 'National Student Opera Society UK' and is passionate about sharing her love for opera with fellow young musicians globally. Since being appointed at the organisation, Lucy has hosted interviews and masterclasses alongside top industry professionals worldwide, with her work being nominated for a '360° Opera Award'.
Lucy is delighted to have been awarded a scholarship to study for a Masters Degree at the Royal Northern College of Music and is generously supported by; 'Ann Gerrard Bursaries', 'Sophie's Silver Lining Fund' and the 'Hindley and Abram Grammar School Foundation'.

I've always been very passionate about music, I started playing guitar when I was 12 and sang at various events through my childhood. I took a break from music at age 14 as other things interested me at the time, but rediscorvered this passion at 17 and have been deeply engaged with it since. In 2019, I wrote, produced and released my debut album "The Mindless Machine" and then moved to the UK to study music. I graduated from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 2022 where I studied songwriting and production and graduated with a high 2/1. Hi all. I'm Beatrice, I'm from Italy and I come from a musical family. I was involved in singing since the age of 5 and started taking singing lessons at the age of 12. When I was 15, I started teaching kids from 12yo at my brother's music school in Italy. In 2015 I moved to London to continue my music career. Today I'm a qualified vocal coach. I've studied Pop, Rock, Jazz and Contemporary styles at BIMM London and graduated with a first. I works as a backing vocalist and session singer.
The teaching method I use in my lessons is part of the MVT training. It consists in creating a balance between your chest voice, head voice and your mixed, focusing on stretching the vocal folds and removing any body tension. Voice and artistic growth are very vast subjects. The conjunction of several techniques and methods help students unleash their full potential. First approach would be to identify and have a diagnosis in order to create a plan that will help reach your goal.
Lessons can take place in person at her house or online, if agreed. They can be 1 hour or 30 minutes long depending on the experience and level of the student.
I have 2 ways of assessing my students. One is a simple 5 tone scale exercise. Such exercise requires a bigger effort and therefore is very efficient for me to understand the level of the student. The exercise starts from the chest voice and continues past the bridge which is usually where the voice break could happen and continues towards the head/mixed voice. Bridges vary depending on whether it is a man of a woman. This is a good way of understanding students full range and if they struggle anywhere along the way up. After that, I ask you to sing a short song to see if your way of singing is the same as the previous exercise. I prefer to do the song too because most of the time, students execute both tasks very differently. After the assessment, we take a few minutes to discuss what I have heard and then we make a plan towards the final goal we want to achieve together. My second approach includes 2-3 minutes of warm up exercises mixed with technique exercises to help overcome the weaknesses in the voice. The rest of the lesson is spent singing a song we choose. I will also look at breathing technique, vocal effects (cry-twang-creak-growl) and agility which can be improved with a few exercises.

London College of Music Grades (Popular Music and Musical Theatre): I reflect on the LCM syllabus to restructure enthusiastic and end engaging lesson plans that make the grades fun and inspiring. As I did these grades myself and experienced the daunting feeling that may be presented with them, approaching these with positivity and patience helps younger students to gradually build confidence in their craft. Students will feel comfortable in initial lessons as they get to lead lessons, singing the songs that they love to sing. I will encourage students and break down songs into smaller sections addressing areas with simple call and response techniques to help improve with: - Pitch - Rhythm - Vocal tone - Dynamics. - Aural training I won’t overwhelm beginner students with technical aspects, but I will draw attention to these fundamental elements of music and assess posture and the overall relaxation of the body. As the eldest of 6 siblings, interacting with a younger age range comes very naturally to me; I keep lessons exiting and very interactive and you’ll be guaranteed to walk away from our lessons feeling fulfilled and with a smile on your face! For in-between lessons I prepare a breakdown of the things we have covered and things you can practice between lessons as habitual practice as it will help to speed up your development. Popular Music and Musical Theatre lessons are available from grades 1-3. Improving Vocal Ability (adjusted to your level): When working with singers with experience, who want to enhance their technical abilities, I incorporate: - Breath-work Exercises (Air-flow) - Diaphragm engagement - Effective warm up exercises - Expanding vocal agility through exercises - Resonance techniques - Projection training - Vowel modification - Emotional engagement training I let the singer navigate the lessons with content that they would like to practice, for current projects that they may need help elevating. I help to break down methods of learning through visual and metaphorical ways such as: - Emotionally mapping songs to sing with intention, (including original song-writing material). - Using different ‘modes’ of the voice for different effects (Whisper, whimper, cry, shout). - ‘The vocal vehicle’ imagining the vocal autonomy as a sophisticated and powerful car. My aim is to help you improve on your vocal skills but also to help you become an all round talented musician- enabling you to make informed musical choices. Vocal Lessons (Non- singers): I have also worked with non-singers such as, Authors who want to public speak with clarity, presence, gravitas and projection, including emotional engagement to the content they would like to present/ record.
