I am a Creative Vocal/Violist working as a performer and Music Teacher in South London. I have over 10 years experience as a violist and vocalist and completed part of my education at the BRIT School for performing arts where i studied for 2 years. I give lessons online and in person. I have played professionally in an Orchestra and a quartet with both classical and modern music and love to perform vocally with my band. I have taught both in the classroom and private lessons to younger and older students and i'm now looking to continue passing on my knowledge to anyone who is willing to learn!
My lessons would include both the technical and theoretical side of playing strings, both classical and modern. I would bring fun and passion to an instrument generally overlooked and encourage the love for a beautiful art form. I would teach with warm ups first, then move to pieces trailered for each students individual goal whilst incorporating knowledge gained from my experience in the field. I teach beginner to intermediate and offer rockschool & ABRSM exams training.
Hi My name Is Tayo and I` have been playing violin since the age of 4 years old. During his time, I have performed in Orchestras and concerts while progressing through the grades, after which completing an ABRSM musical performance diploma when I was 17. After school, i studied a degree in History but it didnt take me long to return to music, where from being classically trained, I embraced a number of different genres both playing the violin and producing music. Therefore, my aim as a teacher is to provide your child will a well-rounded musical education.

I am a professional violinist, violist and conductor, studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Cambridge. As a Supervisor in the Faculty of Music, I teach undergraduate music students at Cambridge. I also teach conducting, violin, viola, and chamber music at the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians in Essex. With over nine years of tutoring experience, I also offer private tuition in violin, viola, orchestral conducting, music, music theory, philosophy, history, essay and dissertation skills, english literature, classical civilisation and violin performance.
From the age of 17, I have taught violin and viola to a variety of students, ranging from children and adults beginning their studies, to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills.
Alongside my MPhil studies at Cambridge, in which I specialised in the cultural history and musical aesthetics of Germany and France in the Long Nineteenth Century, I began working as a freelance academic tutor, and taught Music, History, Philosophy, English Literature, Dissertation Skills, and Classics to A-Level Students. I have since developed two years’ experience, in which I have taught over 900+ hours of educational content with a diversity of tutoring organisations and online education platforms. I also have experience teaching in a classroom setting. I worked as an Assistant Music Teacher at a Sixth Form College, which involved teaching Music A-Level students. I have also worked with academic summer schools in Oxford to prepare Oxbridge hopefuls for their entrance examinations.
My academic expertise is strongest in the fields of the history of philosophy, the philosophy of music, and nineteenth-century music history. I am comfortable teaching both Violin and Viola, as well as Music, History, Philosophy and Writing Skills to final-year undergraduates. I also teach Classics and English Literature to a first-year undergraduate level, and I have intermediate reading skills in French.

Approach to Teaching
– I favour a structured approach to teaching. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs. I also inform the design of my classes through a constructive dialogue with my students. This enables me to structure my lessons within a curriculum that meets my students' specific educational needs, and serves to enable my students to achieve tangible improvements in their academic performance and musical ability.
Academic Tuition
– My academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar style format, in which I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary which my students can use to develop essays, essay plans, revision tools, and exam revision packs.
– I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli.
– I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing short points of rest or temporary closure, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises.
Musical Performance
– Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.
– I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.
Lesson Structure
– Academic lessons tend to be 45–60 minutes in length, but I can adapt my teaching schedule to provide students with additional support if needed.
– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters for a student's requirements.

I have graduated in Violin at the Conservatorio di Musica " www.*** da Palestrina" of Cagliari-Italy and in Viola at the Conservatorio di Musica "G. Verdi" of Milan-Italy. My professional activity led me to work in several orchestras as performer, and in institutions as upper- string and chamber music teacher. I lived and worked in Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and since 2012 I made London my home, where I developed further teaching experience within the British system. I have also founded "The Geminiani Project" ( www.*** ) of which I am the director and the leader of the Camerata Geminiani, ensemble that has been invited to perform in England, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden.
At the same time I have established my ensemble, I have also launched the Geminiani Youth Orchestra (formed by young musicians aged 6 to 17 years old) as I believe in the importance of giving an opportunity to young players to perform together, and the amateur ensemble Hampton Chamber Orchestra; we performed with both orchestras at various venues in London.
Regarding my teaching technique, I believe that each student is different and unique, so the first thing I try to do is to establish a connection, then I try to understand the major skills and major difficulties of the student in order to develop a personalised system; I pay much importance also to the emotional aspect the student is dealing with in order to build passion and love for music. I strongly believe that, once achieved a technical skill, the student must have the chance to play with the teacher and experiment the excitement of making music together.
I have experience in preparing students for auditions, competitions, or ABRSM/Trinity exams with excellent results; I love what I do and I love to see my pupils achieving high level results. Some of my students have been awarded at international competitions, some other former students are covering leading roles in international orchestras or in chamber ensembles.

There will be regular progress reports, sticker rewards each week and medals each term for the most hard-working students. Success is measured on effort, not ability to ensure fairness across the board. Students will have the the opportunity to play at bi-annual concerts at a local venue with my other academy students. I trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and gained a First Class Honours Degree in July 2021. I studied violin with Andre Swanepoel and viola with Dorothea Vogel. I also have Violin Grade 8 with Distinction.
I love working with children and young people, and have lots of patience and enthusiasm. I am friendly and have a cheerful disposition, and am organized and keen to make lessons fun.
I teach violin and viola for all ages from 6 years up, from beginner to Grade 8. I am keen to share my passion for music with others. Close attention is taken to good technique, but tuition will span a large variety of musical genres. I prepare students for ABRSM or Trinity violin examinations Grades 1 - 8, but some of my students just learn for pleasure.
