Hi. My name is Gemma. I am a science and maths tutor, specialising in biology and applied mathematics. I teach with a strong focus on exam skill and application of knowledge, using a mixture of theory, practice questions and exam questions. I encourage a positive attitude to the subject and aim to create a love for learning, as well as good grades. Questions are always welcomed throughout my lessons. I have 3 years experience as an online private tutor in both UK and international exam boards, at all ability levels, including teaching students who have English as a second language. I have a first class degree in Microbiology and a masters in Global Health, with distinction. Both my degree and masters included strong mathematical and statistical components. I also have A levels in biology, chemistry, physics and maths. A typical lesson with me would include a starter question, to either establish baseline knowledge, or revise a previous topic. Followed by a mixture of theory with practice questions to consolidate and challenge your knowledge. For exam level students, I would then finish with exam questions. However, I am also aware every student is different and learns differently, so my lesson plans and teaching style are highly adaptable to suit the needs of my students. I look forward to hearing from you and helping push your, or your child’s, grades up to where you aspire to be.

I was born and raised in Germany. I went to Australia for nearly two years before moving to England in 2017. I gained vast experiences throughout my life so far. I currently work as a EAL Learning Mentor in a seconadry school in Lancashire and know what it's like to learn a new language. I teach and work with 120 EAL pupils from different countries all over the world. But I also run my own German after school club in my school and the pupils and staff love it. I do miss Germany sometimes and thought it would be a nice opportunity to teach someone else a bit of German.

Looking for ages 13-16 only. This is my first time really being able to tutor online. I have had experience with teaching children (13–16yrs) about religion for almost a year and it was a great experience. As I have been researching about and learning about religion for almost all of my life, I believe I have found a way to communicate the essence of religious education in an understanding and engaging way; a way that allows for healthy discussion about the ideas religion teaches in order for your child to understand the importance behind such beliefs and what they mean in context of that particular religion, being applicable to all religions.
So if you want your child to understand to a greater level of depth all these core concepts of religion in general, whether they be Abrahamic or Dharmic, contact me and we'll see where we go from there!
I have included my first session for free so you may understand whether your child enjoyed the lesson and likes the way I teach or not. If they do, I am more than happy to continue with them.

I am an experienced, fully qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher. I hold the relevant qualifications to be able to deliver specialist dyslexia programmes and to complete full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia. I have taught in mainstream, special school settings and for a local authority SEN service providing assessments and intervention programmes within schools. I hold professional membership of the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) and am registered as a tutor and assessor with this organisation.
I care very much about enabling children and young people to reach their full potential despite barriers to learning. Barriers to learning can arise for many different reasons including specific learning difficulties , difficulties with concentration and focus, diagnoses such has ADHD and ASD and emotional and mental health needs such as anxiety. I have experience of how education can sometimes stop working for a child and of the potentially massive impacts of this. My aim is to offer an affordable tutoring service to families who face these challenges. I wish to combine my professional experience and qualifications with my personal insights, in the hope of helping children to overcome hurdles. I have set up this business in memory of my late father from whom I learnt so much about the value of education. As a keen mountaineer he often compared life’s challenges to those of climbing a mountain, and this led me to the name of ‘ Footpaths for Learning. ’ I hope that if you engage with Footpaths for Learning your child or young person will feel helped to find a footpath through any difficulties and to reach the summit of their own personal mountain.
