I was a tutor at Wiltshire College for 14 years, then taught Mathematics and Science in the field of Military Science at MOD for another 14 years to 2012. This has given me a superb appreciation of the practical applications of my subjects in many situations. For example Doppler Radar and sensor circuits to identify speed and direction of enemy targets.

At St Aldates College, Oxford, I taught A Level Maths and Physics for 6 years at an international Independent school.
At Wiltshire College, I was responsible for setting up a Mathematics Study Centre. I have a vast experience of one-to-one tuition and the negotiation of learning programs with indiviual students.

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated English tutor, examiner and writer. I teach English language and music. First, my experience of teaching music. I have extensive experience of working with students at all levels. I have undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in music. I have taught music for the Open University and currently teach music for Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance, where my specialty is the history of opera. I am also a senior member of the examinations team for music at the International Baccalaureate Organisation, with particular responsibility for the extended essay in music ( a subject I have written a guide on). My role with IBO involves setting the standard for the extended essay, in consultation with my colleagues, and then leading a team of examiners with the aim of ensuring that the standard is adhered to. I am a trustee of the Society for Music Analysis, the UK's leading learned society for the promotion of the study of music analysis. I have contributed papers to international conferences and founded Theory of Music Ltd a not-for-profit company which provides free and low-cost resources for the study of the history and theory of music. I have extensive experience of teaching online as well as face to face. I am particularly interested in teaching music history and theory.

I have taught corporate clients for the past 10 years and for the previous 4 years was an IELTS instructor for Aston American University. Studied French and Arabic at university for a four year degree in Modern Langauges. One year was spent in the northern French town of Valenciennes, near Lille. This was a town with real culture and history and allowed me to make the most of my surroundings and started my inseparable love of all things French and the French language.
