Bonjour! 👋
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm a highly experienced French GCSE tutor based in Belfast, available for both in-person and online lessons.
I'm originally from Northern Ireland and hold a BA Honours degree in French from Queen’s University Belfast. During my studies, I spent a year teaching at a high school near Lyon in southeast France. After graduating, I broadened my teaching experience in Japan before returning to the UK to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary Languages) at the University of Birmingham.
In 2017, I began teaching French at a high-achieving secondary school in East Sussex, where I worked for five years. Alongside my full-time role, I started tutoring GCSE French — and I haven't looked back! If it isn’t already obvious, I’m incredibly passionate about the French language and culture. I set high standards for my students, and I’m proud to say they consistently excel through hard work and a supportive learning environment.
I believe that learning a language should be fun, but I also know that dedication is key to achieving top grades. I aim to strike the perfect balance, making every lesson both enjoyable and impactful.
Feel free to send me a message to discuss how I can help your child reach their full potential in French — and to ask any questions you might have!

My name is Ryan B., I am 26 years old and currently live in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 2021, I graduated with a www.*** Bachelor's honours degree in Film Studies and Production at Queen's University Belfast. The following year, I graduated with a commendation Master's Degree in Film, at the same University. Throughout my studies, I have obtained a high level of film knowledge within American cinema, British cinema, European cinema and World cinema. I became extremely fascinated and passionate with film theory and film history, involving analysing, criticising and engaging in research.
To this end, I am interested in writing film essays, reviews and articles. I thrive in decoding film narratives, symbolism, allegory, plot functions, directorial styles and techniques, as well as theoretical and practical film language. These specific skills which I have adopted over the years, have been developed and capitalised on through watching key films throughout the history of cinema, engaging in film literature, listening to film commentaries, podcasts, discussion panels, and by studying the important filmmakers and films since the onset of motion pictures, during my studies and in my own time. I frequently write reviews as a hobby, and I am always aware of new releases in cinema's and on streaming platforms as well as what is important to watch and what isn't. Therefore, I would like to pursue a career within this field and to showcase my skills and knowledge surrounding cinema.

My best subject in school had always been maths. I continued studying maths at a university level. I have taught KS3 Maths for a couple of years in Greece. My first tutorial was a GCSE student that scored highly in her final maths exam. I prepare lessons meticulously. I give priority to practical worksheets and revision. I apply certain methodology as well. I aspire to inspire my students and make things enjoyable some times (as maths can be boring at times:-)

I often say that all things equal I would have been a maths teacher! Goal-orientated but supportive, I have aided in success for my students at different levels and am keen to continue to help where I can with a view to improve grade outlooks.
Experience teaching GCSE, A-Level and University modules. 6 x GCSE successes so far, including special needs requirements. 1 x A-Level student, whose grades improved ahead of the COVID-19 halt on exams. 1 x success in University of whom I am particularly proud, just clutching a 2:1 with some help and now in an excellent graduate position.
Maths isn't a scary subject, it's a process; teach kids a repeatable process over a period of time and they'll surprise anyone. Patience is key as a tutor; the goal is to empower the student to reach their goals and beyond. Friendly work environment allows the student to relax and concentrate on the tasks at hand.
