I have over 20 years of experience in education. My specialism is maths and science but I have planned and taught English lessons as part of my daily job. I am based in Dunfermline, Scotland but have extensive experience working with online programmes and tutoring individuals and groups.
If you have heard of or used Sumdog, you will have seen my work. I designed the progression for the more than 3000 questions for mathematics and 3000 sentences for spelling. I can confidently find where a learner's strengths are and build on them and determine the barriers to progression and work with you to remove them.
I have designed GCSE exam materials for online platforms like Maths Made Easy and have contributed to a range of in person services so that they have a consistent approach to lesson delivery.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to improve the attainment of your children and young people.

Hello. I am an enthusiastic, helpful, and approachable secondary school teacher who already has a wealth of experience teaching various subjects at different levels. My aim is to ensure that all pupils I teach are supported in order for them to reach and achieve their full potential. I currently teach Advanced Higher, Higher, and National 5 level at Modern Studies. I also currently teach National 5 History, but have had experience teaching Higher History previously. I will also be teaching Higher Politics from this year. I have also taught NPA in Criminology. I like to ensure that my lessons and the materials that I create are structured and explained in a way that is engaging, useful, and hopefully easy to understand for all of my learners. I have previous tutoring experience of National 5 level and this resulted in the pupil going on to achieve an A in the final exam.

By instinct I am a physical geographer with a deep understnding of landscape & atmospheric processes that often baffle urban based students.
Human/economic geography is such a fluid field that many students find it hard keep up with the tide of potential current examples that text books simply cannot keep up with. Context and contemporary knowledge is everything!
In terms of applied geographical issues and case studies, I maintain that current affairs and geography have so much to offer today's students who take an interest in the world around them.
In any of the above, the trick is to have a certain curiousity.

I like to keep my lessons fun and interactive even though we will be online - think games, quizzes and role play. If you have a specific goal in mind I am happy to cater our lessons specifically to your individual needs, for example, exam preparation or help with CV/personal statement writing. The ultimate goal is to make my pupils confident in their English skills.
With previous experience as a journalist and researcher, I know how important it is to be able to speak, read and write confidently and efficiently. It is often how we make our first impressions to new people we meet www.*** job interviews, phone calls and important applications to university or college. Being confident in your English skills can also help you to integrate with ease into new environments. I have now received my TEFL certificate in English tutoring. Which means I use effective tools and teaching methods that have been tried and tested by tutors all across the globe. These methods are guaranteed to help you reach your English goals and leave you feeling confident and accomplished!

I took courses in German and Latin during my undergraduate at Cornell University, achieving a minor in German Studies. I continued studying Latin over the course of my MPhil at the University of Cambridge, using it to look at medieval sources in the original language. I have two years of experience tutoring my classmates in German and Latin, and, as a prospective future teacher, I'm interested to offering my services to students who can use my help. I typically like to start lessons by pinpointing the problems and discomforts my students have with language, and develop strategies to combat them from there. Studying Latin has given me a strong understanding of how grammar structures language, and this informs my pedagogy, making me a clear explicator of the many uncertainties that come with grammar. Lessons can look different depending on the student's needs; I'm happy to work on homework together, go over past assignments and exams to find areas to improve, and to teach lessons when the student requires more individual attention. Most importantly, the student and their needs come first. As such, I'm happy to tutor in person or online, meeting the student in the middle to offer them the help they need to succeed.
