I graduated from UWIST in 1974 and have worked as a civil Engineer for the past 40 years - mainly in the Middle East.
The majority of time was spent with a consultancy firm where at the time of my retirement i was Director of Infrastructure Contracts.
In addition to my B.Eng qualification I also have Masters degree in Construction Law.

I have over 20 years of experience in education. My specialism is maths and science but I have planned and taught English lessons as part of my daily job. I am based in Dunfermline, Scotland but have extensive experience working with online programmes and tutoring individuals and groups.
If you have heard of or used Sumdog, you will have seen my work. I designed the progression for the more than 3000 questions for mathematics and 3000 sentences for spelling. I can confidently find where a learner's strengths are and build on them and determine the barriers to progression and work with you to remove them.
I have designed GCSE exam materials for online platforms like Maths Made Easy and have contributed to a range of in person services so that they have a consistent approach to lesson delivery.

Hello. I am an enthusiastic, helpful, and approachable secondary school teacher who already has a wealth of experience teaching various subjects at different levels. My aim is to ensure that all pupils I teach are supported in order for them to reach and achieve their full potential. I currently teach Advanced Higher, Higher, and National 5 level at Modern Studies. I also currently teach National 5 History, but have had experience teaching Higher History previously. I took courses in German and Latin during my undergraduate at Cornell University, achieving a minor in German Studies. I continued studying Latin over the course of my MPhil at the University of Cambridge, using it to look at medieval sources in the original language. I have two years of experience tutoring my classmates in German and Latin, and, as a prospective future teacher, I'm interested to offering my services to students who can use my help. I typically like to start lessons by pinpointing the problems and discomforts my students have with language, and develop strategies to combat them from there. Studying Latin has given me a strong understanding of how grammar structures language, and this informs my pedagogy, making me a clear explicator of the many uncertainties that come with grammar. Lessons can look different depending on the student's needs; I'm happy to work on homework together, go over past assignments and exams to find areas to improve, and to teach lessons when the student requires more individual attention.
