I am an extremely experienced teacher/tutor and examiner of A level Psychology and Sociology. I have experience of tutoring for AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Cambridge International for Psychology and AQA for Sociology.

In my years of teaching and tutoring at A level, I have built up a wealth of resources that are used and shared with my tutees in helping them consistently achieve A* and A grades.
My approach to tutoring is to be flexible and approachable so that students feel free to ask any questions that they wish.
My examining experience is second to none, having been Chief Examiner for A level Psychology and senior positions for A level Sociology. I am currently a senior examiner for A level Psychology.
My tutoring is always totally exam focused, aided by my examining experience which gives me invaluable insight into how the exams are marked and what the exam boards are looking for.
My knowledge of Psychology and Sociology is very strong as I have published textbooks related to the A level Psychology specifications.

I am an experienced English teacher who has worked in secondary schools for the over 20 years. I am also an AQA Lead Moderator and and Adviser to more than 150 schools for English Language A Level. I have Advanced Diplomas (post degree) in Language and Literacy and in Child Development. English Language is my passion though, of course, I have taught GCSE Literature as part of my professional role in school and I love teaching the texts associated with the requirements of the course. I am happy to write specific schemes of work tailored for students' specific needs. I enjoy working with teenagers at both GCSE and A Level though my specialist Language knowledge is particularly relevant to A Level Language students. Increasingly, however, this in depth knowledge is relevant to GCSE English students. I am happy to work with all levels and relish the opportunity to engage with individuals who are seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of the key requirements for both GCSE and A level courses. During the past year I have worked alongside students from years 7 - 13. I prefer to work online as this allows me to work one to one with pupils from across the country and help them to develop their skills through close monitoring and feedback. My DBS Certificate was renewed on 15 June 2024 and I have a current Child Protection Certificate 2023 both of which are requirements for my position as an English Teacher at a High School. I will make all powerpoints available to students after the classes and will mark and give feedback for work completed after the lessons although homework is optional.

I am friendly, approachable and enjoy making learning meaningful for pupils. My lessons begin with starting activities to recap the previous learning, identify any misconceptions. Moving onto the main part of the lesson I plan activities promoting fluency in the skill then application to a real-life situation or worded exam-style question. Games and quizzes can be fun and useful in testing rapid recall.
I have been teaching for fifteen years and have taught learners of all abilities, backgrounds and socio-economic circumstances, planning for progression and offering timely feedback. I am currently a Medical student at Keele and a graduate from the University of Salford, achieving a 1st in my degree in Human Biology and Infectious Disease. Achieving the highest mark within my university. I was responsible for a programme known as GEMMS which is for supporting students in their medicine/dentistry applications, assisting them in interview technique and for the entrance exams.

I begin my classes by asking the student what they want to learn or discuss during the session. If they have a doubt in a concept, I will ask them to explain the same concept to me in their own words and correct them wherever necessary. I will provide some good methods to study or approach that topic. I will conclude the lesson by asking them if there is anything they would like to discuss in our next session so that I could prepare some questions in advance. I will also regularly be assessing your improvement through the use of practice papers to get an idea of where the student is at and how they can further improve. I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1997 with a BSc hons (2:1) in Biological Science and then began a career in the pharmaceutical industry where I worked in microbiological laboratories and manufacturing areas for 6 years. This gave me a great experience of how science is applied in the real world and I worked with a variety of people with many skills. The role gave me an understanding of the requirements of having a job and I developed many skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management. I realised from training new starters that I wanted to continue this type of job role more and looked at other career options and decided to train to be a secondary science teacher. I have now been teaching for 17 years and have found it to be an extremely rewarding and enjoyable career. I have had many roles at schools where I have worked including Form Tutor, S. T. E. M co-coordinator, Associate Teacher Mentor, Head of Science and Examiner for Edexcel. I have taken part in many curriculum development courses to enhance my teaching practice and have delivered training to other teachers to develop teaching and learning within schools. I read many research articles and listen to podcasts on new pedagogy which I adapt and use within my own teaching, I recognise that showing students how to learn is just as important as delivering curriculum content. I use retrieval practice in all lessons and interleave topics to aid memory recall. I enjoy being creative and use engaging and varied activities in my lessons for example model making of a specialised cells to illustrate their structure or use of web quests for independent learning. I have organised and led workshops, science clubs and educational trips which I recognise is an important way of enriching a child's experience of the subject. I have experience working in a variety of secondary schools and have a detailed knowledge of the new curriculum, examination preparation, behaviour management, SEN and safeguarding.
