I have over 20 years of experience in education. My specialism is maths and science but I have planned and taught English lessons as part of my daily job. I am based in Dunfermline, Scotland but have extensive experience working with online programmes and tutoring individuals and groups.
If you have heard of or used Sumdog, you will have seen my work. I designed the progression for the more than 3000 questions for mathematics and 3000 sentences for spelling. I can confidently find where a learner's strengths are and build on them and determine the barriers to progression and work with you to remove them.
I have designed GCSE exam materials for online platforms like Maths Made Easy and have contributed to a range of in person services so that they have a consistent approach to lesson delivery.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together to improve the attainment of your children and young people.

With extensive experience in mental health and adult education, I am dedicated to supporting individuals in overcoming challenges and achieving their academic and personal goals. I have worked in diverse environments, including prisons, colleges, and universities, and worked in engaging with young people through trauma-informed practices. I hold an MSc in Mental Health Science and a BSc (Honours) in Psychology, which provide a solid foundation for my work in mental health and academic support. I am passionate about enhancing study skills for students, equipping them with effective strategies to excel in their studies. In addition to my direct work with individuals, I have successfully led projects in both mental wellbeing and educational and have a proven track record in project development in parenting, creating initiatives that foster community engagement and support. I also teach English as a foreign language, helping learners build confidence in their communication skills. By instinct I am a physical geographer with a deep understnding of landscape & atmospheric processes that often baffle urban based students.
Human/economic geography is such a fluid field that many students find it hard keep up with the tide of potential current examples that text books simply cannot keep up with. Context and contemporary knowledge is everything!
In terms of applied geographical issues and case studies, I maintain that current affairs and geography have so much to offer today's students who take an interest in the world around them.
In any of the above, the trick is to have a certain curiousity.

I love teaching Mandarin. I used to teach Chinese at Chinese school in Glasgow and I have been home teaching my husband for years (proper class with PPT). Now I am teaching some university students online. I know the common problems my students have, I've also noticed each student always has their own struggling point, so I am familiar with the solutions for different questions. All my students agree that I am very good at explaining questions.

My key strength is preparing students for exams, however, I also offer English as an Additional Language and English to younger students. In the past 6 years, my students' exam pass rates have been 100% with 80% of them gaining a 7 or 6 in the IB Diploma. My teaching style is laid-back and very much student-centered. I use games, quizzes and technology in my teaching to make it as enjoyable as possible. Learning should be fun! I look forward to working with you!

I have over 10 years of teaching experience in Scottish secondary schools. I teach English as a foreign language, French and Spanish and have qualifications from the leading universities in Scotland.
I specialise in the EPI method and have used this extensively when teaching myself French and Spanish!
This puts emphasis on exposure to key language again and again to mimic immersion. I then use this language in real-life scenarios and games to guarantee retention.
My approach has helped children and adults alike.
I guarantee that you'll leave your lesson having heard and spoken the language with ease. I'll make learning fun and you'll see progress in no time!
