I have 18-year of experience teaching saxophone, clarinet, theory and composition; moreover, I am also a teacher of the IB curriculum. In addition, I am a professional musician, composer and event organiser with a music PhD and diploma in saxophone.
As an artistic director, I have organised many successful concerts and events to promote contemporary music and received awards from Hong Kong and Ireland. As an educator, I was selected by Quality Education Fund Hong Kong to teach composition in 2014 and was appointed to conduct the wind band at Lutheran Academy. Nevertheless, in 2015 I was nominated to conduct the Open University Hong Kong orchestra and employed by The Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Continuing and Professional Studies as a part-time saxophone lecturer. Finally, as a composer, my musical works have been awarded three times from Sound Imagination and selected in Up-close with music Ireland and ICF winter music festival 2015.
My students have also received different prizes in competitions, such as the Golden key composition competition and Hong Kong Music Festival in Saxophone. Furthermore, as a musician with a global view, I can speak fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese; therefore, l can fulfil the need of students with different languages.
Education is different from teaching or providing instruction; education is about stimulating curiosity; therefore, asking questions is essential.
On composition teaching: I believe that using a story to start with can help us establish the structure and develop the compositions. However, innovative ideas provide the fundamental source of our works. In addition to the ideas, basic training is essential, such as analysis, which helps us understand composing. To me, education is about a journey of asking questions and finding explanations.
On musical instrument teaching: To learn how to learn is the way of my education, and I believe this is an essential skill to develop techniques. Teaching students to notice what mistake they may commit or what kind of wrong postures they make during their practice is crucial. Because the longer they practice, the bigger the error will become. That is why, as a music educator, we should avoid this from happening.

My quite remarkable journey as a sports coach reflects 16 years of diverse experience across nurseries, primary and secondary schools, showcasing a rare depth of expertise despite my youth. My passion for nurturing young athletes began early, evolving as I fine-tuned my coaching techniques to cater to various age groups and skill levels.
My standout proficiency in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) settings underscores my commitment to tailored, inclusive coaching methods. This extensive experience has equipped me with a profound understanding of personalized learning approaches, ensuring every student receives the support they need.
My innovative approach is evident in crafting a bespoke Physical Education (PE) curriculum, a testament to my dedication to enhancing educational programs. Currently delivering BTEC Sport Level 3 at a college, I seamlessly blend practical knowledge with academic theory, empowering students in both sports and academics.
Despite my young age of 30, I have vast experience across all educational settings which sets me apart as a coach and teacher who not only imparts athletic skills but also fosters character, resilience, and a lasting passion for sports and physical well-being. My holistic approach to student development, emphasizing inclusivity and personal growth, exemplifies my unwavering dedication to shaping well-rounded individuals through sports education.

I make all my lessons interactive so that way you have fun whilst learning ☺️ I know what it's like to hate studying, not having anything sink in but trying so hard. Let's give it a go, try a session out and take it from there.

I have been teaching since 2006 across Yorkshire and Staffordshire, to a variety of age groups and abilities and in a variety of settings; from community groups to sixth-form colleges. Now I have returned to my roots in Doncaster, where I began performing at the age of 7 years and founded DN4 Dance & Theatre in 2019. In addition to a BA Hons in Dance and PGCE (PCET), I have a background in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre and is a registered teacher with BBOdance (British Ballet Organisation). When I'm not teaching, I work closely with local Theatre groups and on a professional basis, acting, singing and providing choreography for events/productions. Over my experience in working in FE, I have successfully supported many of my students in their application process to Higher Education and Drama school; selecting and rehearsing monologues for audition and preparing UCAS application. Some of my former students are currently studying at ALRA and UCLAN and I have also successfully helped students gain entry to Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge.
While my recent formal experience has been with FE students and above, I have taught students from the age of 5 through to university level on a wide range of topics. Areas of study include; Physical Theatre (from Dance-based to Commedia dell'Arte), Shakespeare, Contemporary Theatre, Prose.
A general lesson will include a short warm-up (either skills or focus based) prior to the main content; breaking down a script/choreography, rehearsal, feedback and discussion based on learning taken place and next steps. I try to make lessons as practical as I can, dependent on the material that we are working with and the end result required.
