I am an enthusiastic, experienced English-Spanish Teacher. I have taught big groups of children, adolescents and adults, personalized tutoring and regular 1-1 child and adult lessons. I work with all levels, as well as ESP (business-legal English).
I am an experienced english teacher who has worked with students of all ages, from reception up to adult. I have prepared students for IGCSE, TOEFL and IELTS. I have done many years of home tutoring english, maths and science for primary and english for all ages and levels. my aim is to help students feel comfortable and help them enjoy learning. I try to work with their weaknesses and praise their strengths. I will adapt my method and my approach depending upon the students needs, personality and aims.
In the summer of 2018 I received a Master’s degree in Taiwan and Asia Pacific Studies from Tamkang University, and successfully undertook a CELTA course soon afterwards. I completed a 120 hour TEFL course in 2012, and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in History.
Between February and December 2020 I worked as a Learning Support Assistant at the London Nautical School. I assisted teachers with students who were in a number of different academic years, in a range of subjects. Students at this school came from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. I was responsible for helping students with learning difficulties, and those whose first language wasn’t English. I taught them reading, conversation and grammar skills. I also assisted teachers in managing and teaching entire classes of students.
Before this I was a History teacher for a number of Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 classes at St Albans Girls' School. Students at this school come from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. The school works hard to improve attainment in numeracy and literacy and has clear teaching methods in place to achieve this. The head of department produced lesson plans which all other teachers could use, but from the beginning I made changes to these, and added my own material, in order to adapt them to my own style of teaching.
I have extensive experience in teaching English, as a result of being employed as an English Editor at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand, between 2012 and 2015. My job at this organisation required me to conduct instruction in a wide range of different courses, and to interact with diverse groups of students. I am confident that I can apply the experience I have gained to any given classroom environment.
I have also worked at the Imperial War Museum in London in a voluntary capacity at weekends. This involved helping to make the exhibits easy to appreciate and use for visitors of all nationalities and sharing the expertise that I have built up regarding this period of history. This allowed me to share my passion for history with others.
Online TOEFL Lessons
I have worked in primary schools, high schools and taught those who find barriers to education, likewise I have also worked in FE (Further Education) again teaching English and maths and employability skills. I also have experience of teaching in industry, English, maths and employability skills again plus Health and safety in a construction environment.
I regard myself as a caring professional person, that understands learners needs.
My teaching qualifications include being T. A (Teaching Assistant with SEN modules) and an Adult learning teacher holding DTLLS, (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) and an ESOL / TEFL (English, Maths, Mathematics, Employability, and Health and Safety lessons in Bishop Auckland, UK. Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher holding a masters in that area. I have a B. A honours degree 2:1 (Upper Second a short skip from being a First ) in Hisoty, Sociology adn Criminology and could also help students in these areas of study if need be,
I am available to do online teaching with students who require it via whatever learning platform Tutor Extra wants to provide.
My hours of availability are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 - 9 pm.

The course has around 60 hours of teaching hours online, then a further 60 hours of in-house training. This course is intensive and requires total commitment from those taking part, but we are absolutely certain it is the best possible foundation for teaching in asia and espeially China. Even if a teacher has years of teaching experience, this course will give new insights and bring fresh concepts, ideas and methods for you to savour.

We partner with many of the key employers in China and have contact with many schools, so we can probably arrange for a location that will suit you.
We have several options:
- We may be able to find an employer that will pay for your course before you commence empoyment?
- We can find an employer that will pay for your course on fulfillment of a contract period.
- We can also of course just offer the course without any other arrangements, The fee would be 3,000 rmb.
- We no longer run online only courses as these are no longer acceptable by the majority of schools in asia.
- If you are not going to teach in asia, but need an online course, you can contact us and we will pass you to one of our partner training institutes.

1) Teaching Experience
I have been teaching advanced levels and prepared students for international exams such as IELTS and TOEFL, SAT, FCE, CAE, PET, PTE, KET, and TOEIC for over 14 years. I have also been in charge of recruiting, training and observing teachers based on updated language teaching methods( mostly CLT and Task-based methods). Furthermore, I have designed and held placement and diagnostic tests for the new students and scheduled their lessons. I consult with students and their parents regarding the student's weaknesses and strengths and give information about international exams, University applications, and requirements.
