I have been teaching biology for 18 years. I have been a Head of Biology at 2 private schools, Director of Studies at one school. Hi! I'm Laura, a qualified Primary school teacher living in central Colchester. I have experience of teaching across the Primary age range (ages 4-11) in a range of different schools and have recent experience of working in a Special Needs school (ages 5-16). I believe that confidence and relationship building is key to helping pupils develop their skills and giving them the space and time to talk things through is so important to help them understand in a way that makes sense to them.
Teaching is my passion. My purpose in life is to create a positive environment in the world. I love to teach children and students of any age group. I have also been associated with Brahma kumaris (World Spiritual Organisation) for 7 years. I have a profound understanding of my subjects, adeptly tailor instruction to diverse learning styles, fosters a positive and inclusive classroom environment and effective communication. I also encourages critical thinking and empower students. Over the past six years, I have had the privilege of teaching a wide range of subjects to students from diverse backgrounds. This experience has honed my ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, foster a positive learning environment, and adapt my teaching methods to individual student needs. Additionally, I recently authored my first book, "One Light and the Angelic World," which has further enhanced my knowledge and passion for sharing knowledge with others. Furthermore, my association with Brahma Kumaris, a world spiritual organization, for the last seven years has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the holistic approach to education. I strongly believe in the importance of nurturing not only academic growth but also the emotional and spiritual well-being of students. I strive to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages personal growth and inspires a love for learning.

I have worked in the Education sector for over 10 years now. Trained teacher for 8 years and very passionate about my subjects.
I am happy to help with a range of things which cater to your needs if that is a confidence boost to understanding Woods or fabrics, to figuring out the world of 2D Design. I can also help with designing, coursework support, learning about artists and designers, annotation, intro into Design Technology or Art in Secondary school or those tricky 8 marker exam questions!
