I specialise in Online English tuition, covering all texts in the GCSE and KS3, along with essay writing practice and exam revision. My services also include online adult functional skills tuition. My mission is to help students become more confident in their English skills and to provide them with the tools and strategies for success.
A little about me in the school setting
My roles have allowed me to build on a range of areas that I have been interested in for some time. My focus on ‘pedagogy’ has been developed towards ‘praxis’ – the idea that one reflects and acts uponp ractice to transform it. What I have learnt is that a narrow focus on the classroom isn’t enough. Instead,an effective system is one which develops productive and synergistic relationships between learners, families, and the community, and that a deep understanding of the context in which you work, the locality and the culture in which learners live is crucial. I believe we have started on exciting journey here proceeding and developing positively on recent Ofsted feedback – building on those to ensure that learning really is a community endeavour in the best possible sense. My ‘curriculum’ will not stop at the door of a classroom, or the school gate but will be a transforming powerhouse for all living in the community. This, in practical terms could be parenting support in the form of coaching and peer support; providing evening classes in basic skills, parental revision classes to help them best assist their child. It could be using the school buildings as a base of local CPD provision, for meetings, for collaboration among local departments.

Teaching science in schools can be exciting and stimulating. Children respond well in practicals and stimulating an exploratory nature of the subject, everyday science makes students feel that each lesson holds something new and valuable to life. There are a. Variety of strategies adopted by teachers to provide a range of learning activities. it is important to adhere to the National Curriculum to ensure that all students in a class have reached a level of understanding and are ready to move on to the next stage. Children may observe and record similarities and differences in topics covered.
Most of the instructions should be student led and this will dictate the questions posed by the teaching staff. Pictures, models and videos go on to reinforce the core concepts.
often a profitable combination of practical activities, models and analogies reading, drawing, group discussions all go on to achieve the teachers objectives.
I firmly believe that science investigations, illustrative activities and researching secondary sources of information promote deeper understanding and exchange of ideas in various forms.

I'm a French native and have been living in England for the past seven years. While I'm now fluent in both French and English, there was definitely a time when getting to grips with English was quite a challenge! I studied French literature at university before going on to complete a PhD in Theology at Durhan university. Teaching is a real passion of mine, and I’m truly dedicated to helping others succeed and enjoy their learning experience as much as possible.

I was teaching English to students at a private university in Japan from 1998 to 2020. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, my main job involved face to face lessons, either one-to-one lessons or in small groups of 4. When teaching TOEFL lessons I taught groups of 20 or more students. I also have experience teaching business English to groups of company employees, in particular, training them to give presentations and hold meetings and conferences in English. I have also taught children's classes part-time.
With these experiences in mind, I believe I have a great set of transferable teaching skills that will help me to teach any group of students and I have developed necessary skills in empathy, patience and creativity to communicate ideas and introduce concepts successfully to both small and large groups. I enjoy teaching and communicating with students, and I try my best to make the lessons as enjoyable and interactive as the material will allow. My experience of doing this with a range of different ages, cultures and abilities has given me valuable resources and ideas that help to improve the quality of my teaching, and I try to incorporate what I learn about the students into the classes to make them more engaging.
Recently, I've also had experience teaching my own children in Maths and English (they are junior school students) as their school closed during the pandemic.
