I am a recent English literature graduate with a passion for the arts and a keen interest in pursuing a career within the arts, heritage, and cultural sectors. Having achieved a high 2:1 (with disrupted teaching due to the pandemic) I have extensive skills with regard to essay writing. I finished my A levels with A*AAA and thus understand the demands of the WJEC A Level specifications for English, Geography, Religious Studies, and The Welsh Baccalaureate.
Tutoring would allow me to use the numerous skills I have gained from my degree. I have learned how to truly engage with a media source, and pay particular attention to writing styles and techniques. This has taught me to have a great eye for detail and skills in time management, independent working and high-quality research skills, and an ability to implement an array of sources. I have also learned how to apply these attributes to my own work to produce high-quality fiction and nonfiction writing.
My personal skills include skills I have learned from my active engagement in Scouting throughout the past two decades. I have developed effective active listening and communication skills. I am a native Welsh speaker and am confident in producing materials and tutoring in the Welsh language. Alongside this, I have a passion for ensuring that the narratives of those who occupy a more marginal position in society are heard. Having studied English literature, I am keenly aware of the importance of having a voice.

I am a first year Physics student at the University of Kent. I have always enjoyed teaching and academia, so much so that my dream in life is to become a theoretical physicist after graduation. As a result, one of my biggest passions in life is to contribute to young mind’s understanding of the universe through science and mathematics. I have outstanding organisation skills, which allow me to be flexible in my schedule, and use my time as effectively as possible. Moreover, I love meeting new people which would make an excellent teacher, as I am able to connect with people comfortably.

As you will note from my qualifications and professional experience, I have taught all four subjects for some 35 years, at College, University, Sixth Form College and High School. While the majority of my teaching has been in the UK, mainly in Birmingham, London and Bristol, nevertheless I have also taught abroad at university in the Philippines. Additionally, I have been an A'Level Politics and History examiner for the former London and Oxford & Cambridge boards in the 1990s and early post-millennium decade. So also, have I written course brochures for the History and Politics Distance - learning programmes for the National Extension College, Cambridge. All of this has added up to my having acquired a broad professional experience, which I put to the benefit of my students.
My teaching style is very much subject and communication based, with the emphasis applying knowledge and essay skills towards achieving the best exam results. There is also a priority attached to reading and grammar skills, both of which appear to be neglected by the contemporary British educational establishment. I have experience working with kids and young adults in classroom settings and have overseen revision sessions for students in secondary school while they were studying for A-level exams. I was appointed head boy in upper sixth and so I have a strong background in communicating and working with a variety of ages. I have volunteered in local primary schools to work with kids in young settings also, I really enjoyed my time doing this and found it to be an invaluable experience for my interest in teaching.
