I have been involved in photography as an amateur and professional for over 40 years. I owned and ran a professional chemical-based darkroom in N. Wales from 1984-92. Photoshop is considered the industry standard for photo editing. I would not consider myself a Photoshop “guru” although I’ve been using the programme since version 3. 0 in 1993 - There is always more to learn.
I liked to think I’m meticulous and concise, I always strive to do good work. I’m passionate about photography and the photograph. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and insight. I have done studio, landscape, stll life, events and product photography. In fact, it may be easier to say I cannot take photographs underwater or in space. Everything else I’m OK with.

My career has involved the management of change within an increasingly technological driven media workplace. I can offer 20+ years experience in this sector with particular knowledge of supported development and management of student learning. Established through my association with photographic and video work on a freelance basis and my time spend teaching at local colleges and universities. We hoped to achieve this in particular by increasing confidence and self esteem with removing barriers that would be traditionally by in place associated with the media industry. I enjoy prioritising my workload to consistently produce work of high accuracy with excellent attention to detail skills and a logical approach to problem solving. My professionalism and organised approach enable me to remain calm when working under pressure and I am enthusiastic and conscientious, with a natural ability to deal appropriately with people on all levels. My working experience in the world of professional media production complement this such as magazine production as an editor and also creating community radio stations these have given my a good contact book which I can draw on when needed. with respect to my work at local colleges I delivered A2 print production to 15 students with all gaining grades of B to A's this year. I can ensure an absolute professional delivery of all aspects of media both theory and practical that is grounded in my own success rate in the past. I've taught Photography for 18 years in secondary, further, and higher education in both the UK and USA and provide friendly, knowledgable private tuition. This includes black and white film processing and printing in the darkroom, digital photography, editing and manipulating in Photoshop, and experimental creative processes. Whilst Head of Photography at an inner London secondary school for over 4 years, my GCSE Photography classes achieved the highest grades in the school for two years running. "Stuart manages to bring variety in his approach to classes. Some weeks he positions tables propped upright on their ends and we work in various media on paper the full size of the model. Sometimes we draw a model who moves in various ways in rotation. Our still life evenings are also different, he brings in a pigs head for us to draw, and also a brace of pheasants. Stuart is always very encouraging. He covers all the basics in teaching us how to measure the body by eye, by aligning different parts of the body, and demonstrates different media techniques. "
