With five years experience teaching music to those with special educational needs, I believe "we are born musical". Sometimes though we are restricted by our individual differences, we may experience sensory or physical difficulties that limit our ability to express our unique musicality. I develop ways to open musical worlds to those with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. I deliver music as communication in order to encourage pre-language skills, allowing pupils to express their creativity and develop their musicality. If a pupil wants to learn an instrument but needs an individualised learning experience, I tailor lessons to meet their learning needs. I work with parents and carers in order to develop their own skills and encourage a musical relationship between themselves and their children or young adult. Activities include:
Singing
Playing a range of instruments
Resonance boards
Call and response strategies
Composition
Sensory stimulating environments
I have worked with pupils with a range of learning difficulties including:
Autism
Behaviour difficulties
Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
Severe learning difficulties (SLD)
Mild learning difficulties (MLD)
Visual impairment
Hearing impairments.
Relevant training:
Sounds of Intent PG Cert- Pending
Makaton levels 1-4
Team Teach
Positive Behaviour Managament
Asthma
Epilepsy
Medication Administration
Child Protection
Most importantly of all, we have lots of fun!

As an ambassador for education and diversity, I am proud to offer over five years of teaching experience, with my pedagogy and teaching being recently recognised by Ofsted as outstanding. During this time, I have been responsible for curriculum leadership and developing stimulating and academically enriching lessons through effective pedagogical practice; supporting a diverse cohort of children from all backgrounds. Furthermore, I have had experience in aligning evidence-based research with pedagogical practice to contribute towards the design and development of Cambridge Assessment International Education’s international curriculum which is taught within schools across 160 countries and 9 regions.
As well as educating young people within education, I have also had experience in training teachers; leading face-to-face CPD training workshops to support teachers by bridging the gap between practice and research and in turn, effectively supporting students both holistically and academically within schools and the wider community. My approach to teaching is to inject the element of creativity and fun. It is imperative that we enjoy the things that we do, including education. I love creating an immersive learning experience which utilises extra-curricular tools to support cognitive, academic and holistic development. For me, as a certified life coach and educator, I believe in creating a safe space where each child can thrive and develop a sense of self-confidence whilst gaining a foundation of skills to support them both in school and out.

Having studied Musical Theatre since the age of 15, I am now graduated from a prestigious London drama school, signed with an agent and am beginning the process of entering the industry. I wouldn't be where I am today without my teachers and tutors and I want to pay that forward to help young people achieve their creative goals. I like to work very personally, so we will sit down in our first session and discuss your personal goals, I will then work with each individual student to reach those goals. I'm willing to give anything a go, as long as you are. Let's work hard and have fun!
