Prior to teaching I have worked in life science Reasearch and Development and in Biopharamceutical research, sales and marketing. I also worked a part-time voluntary teaching assistant in primary and seconday schools for 2 years. In 2014 I decided to change career completely to become a science teacher, so I trained at Kings College, graduating with my PGCE in 2015.
My background prior to teaching brings additional experience and skills to my teaching. Chemistry is my specialist subject. I have taught and tutored all sciences successfully to years 7 to 11, and have taught and tutored Chemistry and Biology at A level.
I am a Chartered Linguist with over 15 years of experience working in the language industry. I have a BA (HONS) in Languages and Translation Studies. I am passionate about the Italian language, linguistic and language teaching. I am professional, friendly and empathic, and my teaching style is very effective in ensuring fast results. I am very flexible in creating tailored lessons to help you achieve your goals.

I recently completed a masters degree in civil engineering at the University of Bristol, and have since worked as a structural engineer for 15 months. At A-Level, I achieved an A* in mathematics, an A* in physics, and an A in chemistry. At GCSE level, I achieved 9A*s and 1A, including an A* in maths. I am looking to help students work through topics they are struggling with, and achieve their potential in the subject. I want to use the knowledge and experience I have gained during my time at school, university, and in my work as an engineer, to help provide productive and fulfilling lessons to students.
I am an award-winning and highly experienced "super" tutor and academic coach with over 15 years of tutoring, teaching and coaching experience, during which period I have made multiple students become university toppers and world prize winners. As for my own qualifications, I have a First Class Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Doctorate in Engineering (Expertise: High-fidelity numerical simulations). As an undergraduate student at university, I was ranked number 1 with a cumulative average of 84%, for which I was honoured as the `Top Engineering Graduate`. I started tutoring undergraduates and postgraduates at the age of 19, and A-level students as early as 17. Until recently, I was also employed as a Senior Teaching Associate in Mechatronics Engineering at a leading UK University, where I was widely regarded as the highest-rated Academic. These students have been very happy to work with me because they are being prepared to reach their highest potential, and this is somewhat evident from the fact that they typically acquire the highest marks in their class / cohort. Of the hundreds of students that I have tutored / coached over the past 15 years, almost all acquired the best possible grade and none has ever got a grade lower than a B, despite the spread in the aptitudes and circumstances of incoming students. My name is José María de Lucas Sacristán, though most know me as Chema Sacristán. I've been a professional drummer since 2004. I'd like to share a brief biography of my career in the U.K. In 2002, at 19, I realized my love for music and moved to Bristol, U.K., where I lived for four years. Bristol exposed me to all sorts of music, including rock, jazz, world music, and more. I played my first shows and worked with over five different local bands, gaining valuable experience. In 2006, I moved to London to study at Tech Music Schools, known as "Drum Tech," where I completed my higher education and earned a BMUS in Popular Music Performance (Hons), licensed by West London University. After completing my degree in 2011, I worked exclusively as a performing drummer and drum teacher, giving private lessons in my own studio, Oktopus Music Services, in North West London. In the past nine years, I've had the privilege of performing, recording, and writing with some of the best musicians in the London and U.K. scene, such as Kevin Glasgow (one of Europe's best bassists), Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse's guitarist), Roberto Manzin (Zucchero), Felipe Martíns (Emeterians), Juan Whist (The Voice National Spanish TV), and many others. I've showcased in most of London's live music venues and with the best U.K. and European entertainment agencies, such as Scarlett Entertainment, Full Stop Entertainment, and more. After 20 years of professional experience, I've decided to focus fully on teaching drums and performing. Difficult concepts are broken down in smaller ones through scaffolding using different techniques differentiated according to each child`s individual need. (i) For School UNI students I have a deep understanding of the National Curricula from the different Boards, Aqua, Edexcel, Cambridge, and preparing students for University examinations, including UCL or Oxbridge. My experience gave me the ability to quickly spot the student's strengths and weaknesses. The result is that my students have all gained between B and A or A* or 9, at their A-level or GCSE exams, (I had just one student who was given a B, the others all gain A or A* or 9). However as importantly they are able to enjoy fluent speaking and a full understanding of the Italian Language.
(ii) For Adults and Professional students In tutoring adult and professional students I have developed a method which using authentic teaching material, such as New reading, or listening, songs or moves listening. This has allowed all of them to deal in Italian, to a mother tongue level, such as job interviews or giving presentation, or simply talking with Italians once in Italy
Learning a language is the process of understanding which involves all the fours apprehension skills of listening, writing, speaking, reading which makes the entire process a very effective means to train your brain, but most of all is an entire unique psychological and emotional experience.
