I have gained a wealth of professional experience during my twenty-four years of classroom teaching and leadership in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. My style of teaching is varied to cater for all different types of learners in the class. Effective planning, rigorous monitoring, early intervention and assessment strategies are used in my class to support the teaching and learning which is scaffolded for each child’s individual needs and abilities. I believe that effective working relationships between students and parents are crucial to a child’s academic success. Since completing my teacher training (PGCE) in Secondary Mathematics at the University of Sussex in 2015, I have worked as a Maths teacher and Assistant Head of Department in two schools. I worked at Dorothy Stringer Secondary School in Brighton, teaching KS3-KS4 for three years and I now teach KS3-KS5 at St Paul's Catholic College in Burgess Hill. Hi! I'm a second year student currently studying mathematics at the University of Sussex. I studied maths, further maths and chemistry in sixth form, at which time I helped out with many younger students. I did this by volunteering in a yr 7 maths class and in the homework club the school held once a week in which I helped many students in years 7-11
Maths might seem tough and boring at times, but that’s only because you haven’t found the right way to approach it yet! With the right techniques, it becomes much easier and even fun. Now, I won’t say every part of maths is fun, but trust me, some of it can be pretty exciting! Give it a try, and I’ll do my best to make it simple, engaging, and maybe even something you enjoy!
