My studies and work experience, both in Italy and in the UK, equipped me with a solid subject knowledge in Mathematics and sciences and how to teach them effectively.

My educational philosophy encompasses a series of key points as follows:
1) Students need to learn as much as they need food, clothing and shelter. An educator’s job is to fill that primal need for learning by creating engaging and relevant learning experiences every day.
2) Teachers should treat students as active participants in the learning process.
3) Be strongly aligned with student-centred learning involving exploration, discovery, experiential learning, and the production of high quality work.
4) Students need oral and written feedback to improve. Teachers need to gather data on student performance to adjust the learning environment and instruction so that they can target students' learning needs. Teachers administer pre-tests to find a starting point for learning and post-tests to determine the students' increase in performance level as well as the teachers' effectiveness.
5) Students need structure and appropriate repetition to learn. A teacher should be able to organize a standards-based lesson sequence, successfully implement the plan, and then evaluate student learning.
6) Be able to create an exciting learning environment that makes it difficult for students not to learn. A teacher should know how to include all students in learning at their own level, and a teacher should be able to inspire the students to push themselves to the next level.
7) Students need tools and resources. They should have skills and strategies to be able to work effectively in the different levels of the cognitive domain as defined by Benjamin Bloom. Students should also be aware of their own learning preferences, and teachers should assist with creating a plan to develop other learning skills.
8) A teacher has to be prepared to adopt multiple roles in the classroom (facilitator, teacher, instructor, coach, consultant, counsellor, and mentor) as well as a proper use of the Teaching Assistant.
9) Being genuine and modelling trust can significantly help establish a successful learning environment and maintain a collaborative climate in the classroom.
10) A good teacher needs an excellent subject knowledge and a high willingness to push himself to a higher confidence.

Hello and welcome to Connect Maths Tutor. I am Viviane D. and a qualified Secondary Maths teacher of 14 years. I have considerable experience in supporting students across KS3 and preparing students to sit KS4 Maths GCSE 9-1 specification Higher/foundation.
Having acquired substantial experience of working with a significant range of students and abilities, I understand fully the barriers to learning in Maths. MY STORY
I am currently a grade-one “outstanding” teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 “outstanding” rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. My name is Pam and I have been a Maths teacher in Secondary Schools since 2017. I love teaching Maths and helping students to enjoy the subject. I am kind and encouraging and will create a personalised programme for your child to help their confidence grow and deepen their understanding.

I taught at a secondary school in West Norfolk for 10 years but have now decided to tutor full time. I ensure my mathematics skills are up to date and I understand the latest exam requirements and teaching methods. I only tutor pupils using online sessions .

Tom taught a lesson on quadratic sequences. He started by establishing the student’s confidence on the subject and then shared his screen to display a well prepared series of whiteboard slides. The student was asked to identify the relationship between a series of numbers leading to establishing the nth term. These initial sequences provided the base for the future slides, which contained further, more complex sequences for the student to solve. At each stage, Tom encouraged the student to break down the workings to ensure errors were avoided – he then annotated the whiteboard accordingly. Tom’s manner was easy going and relaxed. The student was actively involved throughout and, to quote Tom ‘did most of the work’ is a very positive way. This allowed for Tom to constantly assess and pitch to the level required. Tom was able to self assess well and commented that, if he were to the lesson again, he would have included more simple questions to start to build up confidence before going on to more complex sequences. Overall a really positive lesson, with a personable and approachable tutor.
I am a practicing primary school teacher with over 20 years experience in London and Kent schools, with children from Reception to Year 6. I have worked with a variety of children at all ages an abilites from 4 to 17. I belileve in working to the strengths of the student and developing a program that is appropriate regardless of what the age expectations are.
I have a 100% sucess rate in students gaining at least their target grade at GCSE including working with a young lady for 3 months who needed to resit her maths having failed (equivalent of a grade 2) - she gained a grade 6 in her resit.
I also have a 100% success rate at primary aged children gaining a place at independent schools for their secondary education, with all who applied for a scholarship being sucessful.

I tutor children across the primary phase, all the way from teaching how to read and write in English, to solving complex problems in Maths, to preparing them for their upcoming SATs or 11+ exams.
I tailor my lessons to cater for each child's individual needs. I have a gentle and friendly approach towards children and I always look for ways to help them make connections between the things they learn and for them to develop a love for learning. I believe that every child is truly special and unique. I have successfully tutored children with specific learning needs, as well as children that have English as an additional language. All my students have made excelled progress in their studies, therefore most of my students come from personal recommendations of happy parents :)

I've established a reputation as a friendly, informal teacher whose cheerful and patient style helps even the most nervous and shy students. This enables them to relax, enjoy the lessons and make steady progress.
I joined the Government's National Tutoring ("Catch-up") Programme in 2020.
In recent years I've also taught a number of students with (mild) Special Education Needs, including autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and cerebral palsy.
I've previously held memberships of both the Institute of Statisticians and the Society of Editors, so am well versed in both Numeracy and Literacy.
