I have taught in schools as a senior leader for over 20 years and have been an examiner for the Edexcel and AQA exam boards for over 15 years. I've been a teacher and tutor for over 30 years and feel I'm just about getting the hang of it. In addition to teaching content, I focus particularly on getting my students to think more deeply about how and why they study, helping them learn better how to learn, That really is the fun of teaching. Essentially, I try to provide the kind of education and support I would want for my own children. Not that I actually do provide that for my own children, of course; I’ll be looking for some other sucker to tutor those little monkeys. I work in the North Kent area (principally in and around Gravesend and Medway) and specialise in maths and physics, but also run sessions on essay writing (which concentrate on improving grammar, punctuation and structure). Most of my students are studying A-level or IB, but I also run GCSE and 11+ sessions. Although offering individual tuition from time to time, I mainly run small groups, classes and crammers, which provide a better education at far lower cost.
In addition to offering personal tuition, I also produce free video tutorials for those unable to afford help (or for whom a trip to the bucolic paradise of North Kent is sufficiently unfeasible or unpalatable). The library is currently small but will doubtless grow with my children (who are the reason I currently have so little time to make more – either videos and children). In terms of qualifications, I hung around Cambridge till they gave me a couple of degrees to go away, then repeated the trick at Oxford a few years later. I've therefore acquired a bachelors in physics, masters in history/philosophy and theology, and a doctorate in theology. Which displays either commendably diverse interests or an inability to stick at anything. My wife suggests the latter.

I am a Year 12 student in Saint Olave's Grammar School for Boys who teaches maths for 11+/KS3 exams. I do online maths tutoring or tutoring within 5 miles radius of my home. I have experience tutoring 11+ candidates with their maths exams resulting in most passing their maths exams.
I remember vividly how it was going through all the preparation necessary for my 11+ exams and this effectively allows me to relate to the current candidates. I know the stress and even fear that might accompany getting ready for the exams as I have gone through it therefore I aim to help my students prepare effectively but most importantly in a way which will not pile on extra pressure.

For the questions answered well I still suggest alternative methods so they can pick the method they feel most comfortable with. I have considerable experience being a tutor as I tutored last year's candidates for their 11+ exams in maths, resulting in a high pass rate. My lessons are 2 hours and for students doing 11+ or exams in KS3.
