Hi. My name is Gemma. I am a science and maths tutor, specialising in biology and applied mathematics. I teach with a strong focus on exam skill and application of knowledge, using a mixture of theory, practice questions and exam questions. I encourage a positive attitude to the subject and aim to create a love for learning, as well as good grades. Questions are always welcomed throughout my lessons. I have 3 years experience as an online private tutor in both UK and international exam boards, at all ability levels, including teaching students who have English as a second language. I have a first class degree in Microbiology and a masters in Global Health, with distinction. Both my degree and masters included strong mathematical and statistical components. I also have A levels in biology, chemistry, physics and maths. A typical lesson with me would include a starter question, to either establish baseline knowledge, or revise a previous topic. Followed by a mixture of theory with practice questions to consolidate and challenge your knowledge. For exam level students, I would then finish with exam questions. However, I am also aware every student is different and learns differently, so my lesson plans and teaching style are highly adaptable to suit the needs of my students. I look forward to hearing from you and helping push your, or your child’s, grades up to where you aspire to be.

Very friendly, chatty and bubbly character. I do my upmost to ensure a good, working relationship with my students as I believe it is key in building their knowledge together. I love my sports particularly football and Tennis, but most of all I love helping others elevate themselves.
With the 6 years of experience in Teaching and Tutoring that I have acquired from different countries and continents, I bring a well rounded and modern approach whilst still respecting and encompassing time tested techniques in developing ones abilities.
Not only will I help you master the subject knowledge, but also how to be exam savvy and extract the most out of a mark scheme following my trialled and proven steps. So, if it is improving confidence and boosting grades you are looking for, please allow me to share my passion of maths and teaching with you and we will get to work.

GCSE tutoring from student who got grade 8/9. Still a student and can recap knowledge well/be from someone who is more approachable.
I’ve always enjoyed maths; especially at GCSE level. I have been told in the past by peers/teachers/people that I have tutored that I am good at explaining/teaching content and that I am able to do it in a way that is understandable/easy to recall and remember.
I tutored 4 students in high school during GCSEs. They found that my approach was the best (and better than most adult tutors), which was a 50% taught approach and 50% past paper questions/exam practice. This allowed them to enhance their learning with support and enable them to apply knowledge directly to any question. Using my own personal notes/resources ( www.*** PowerPoints) we will be able to slowly progress and build up knowledge/recall gradually, which deposits it into the long-term memory (perfect for exams).

I am an experienced, fully qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher. I hold the relevant qualifications to be able to deliver specialist dyslexia programmes and to complete full diagnostic assessment for dyslexia. I have taught in mainstream, special school settings and for a local authority SEN service providing assessments and intervention programmes within schools. I hold professional membership of the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) and am registered as a tutor and assessor with this organisation.
I care very much about enabling children and young people to reach their full potential despite barriers to learning. Barriers to learning can arise for many different reasons including specific learning difficulties , difficulties with concentration and focus, diagnoses such has ADHD and ASD and emotional and mental health needs such as anxiety. I have experience of how education can sometimes stop working for a child and of the potentially massive impacts of this. My aim is to offer an affordable tutoring service to families who face these challenges. I wish to combine my professional experience and qualifications with my personal insights, in the hope of helping children to overcome hurdles. I have set up this business in memory of my late father from whom I learnt so much about the value of education. As a keen mountaineer he often compared life’s challenges to those of climbing a mountain, and this led me to the name of ‘ Footpaths for Learning. ’ I hope that if you engage with Footpaths for Learning your child or young person will feel helped to find a footpath through any difficulties and to reach the summit of their own personal mountain.

Hi, thank you for taking a look at my profile.
I'm a secondary school maths teacher, qualified in 2018 and have worked in schools in Manchester and Burnley but live on the Fylde coast. As a teacher and a parent I know you want the best for your child and so any questions however trivial they might seem please ask.
At the moment I will only teach online due to the current Covid 19 restrictions, but have tutored in the past at students houses which I hope to resume once lockdown is over.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I qualified as a teacher in 2013 and have a degree in Mathematics within secondary education (first class honours) and qualified teacher status. I have taught in secondary schools and colleges around the north west. As well as teaching I am an examiner for one of the main boards and know the ins and outs of the exam process. I also love technology and am able to tutor online. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, as a parent myself I know that you will want to pick the right person so no question is silly or too small.
Please also look at my facebook page for reviews
Thank you again, Anthony

I have been privately tutoring Mathematics to students from the ages 10-18 (Secondary School through to A-Levels) over the past four years whilst completing my Master's degree in Mathematics. I take great pride in my work as a tutor, and always make it a priority to make my students feel comfortable that they can ask me any questions at any time during a lesson. Having been on both sides of the small classroom teaching dynamic, I can sympathise with how some students may feel a sense of unease when starting a new class with a new teacher, which can ultimately impact their classroom learning. During my lessons, I like to stress the importance that this is not simply another classroom lesson where I talk and the student should remain quiet, and instead encourage my students to ask me any and all questions they have about the subject. The more they can tell me about their concerns with Mathematics, the more information I have to work with when adapting the lesson to their needs. My preferred teaching style is to look through previous work that a student has completed, and create complete breakdowns to topics/exam question solutions to give the student a step-by-step method that they can use beyond the lesson. After each lesson, I send an email with a document attached that contains all of the information discussed during the lesson, so that they can use the teachings at their own leisure in the future. If I specialise my lessons to each student, then what would be the point of me not sharing the resources afterwards? My working times are quite flexible, as I work from home, so most days from 10:00 - 18:00 work well for me. This is not a strict time window, however, so please feel free to contact me with alternative times outside of these hours, and we can see if we can make it work. Please also let me know if you have any enquiries about tutoring, including information about my qualifications before university studies, and I will be happy to share.
