A focus on understanding, as opposed to memorisation - For both 11+ and GCSE students, my teaching philosophy centres on ensuring true understanding through tackling difficult concepts in a clear and approachable manner as well as the usage of a multitude of practise questions to ensure students are able to apply their new knowledge.
3. Building confidence and exam technique - I’ve learnt throughout my academic career that confidence truly is the key to success, especially when it comes to exams. I work with students to improve their exam technique, time management and stress management strategies through stimulating exam conditions in my lessons.

I am a qualified teacher of Mathematics with wide experience teaching from years 5 to 13. I taught for five years at an all girls` secondary school in Bath before moving to an extremely high achieving boys`school close to my new home in Northwood.
I had spent the years prior teaching in mixed gender secondary schools in Bristol and Trowbridge as well as a middle school in Dorset.
I have seven years of experience helping young people achieve their goals in mathematics in a tutor capacity.
I have created a wealth of resources in recent years with the aim of diagnosing and curing misconceptions in topic specific areas within the curriculum for key stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE, FSMQ and A-level. These have proven invaluable in preparing students for their state examinations.

This is followed by working on instructive reinforcing exercises to enhance and deepen understanding and build confidence in the new knowledge. I set focused homework at the end of each lesson and discuss marked homework at the start of the next one using it to emphasis on the areas that require improvement and also for keeping a track of students' progress.
