As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a specialization in Mathematics, I have been an integral part of the Maths Department in a Secondary school. Over the course of 15 years, I have successfully taught small groups of students, primarily focusing on GCSE level (Foundation) Mathematics. I love maths and studied at Cardiff University, followed by a PGCE at Cheltenham and Gloucester College. I taught in high school for 10 years and have been tutoring for a further 10 and have completed numerous courses in education and learning styles. I have taught students from 11 to adult. I have been an exam marker for both AQA and Pearson for over 10 years and mark the GCSE every year. This gives me valuable insight into the specifications and requirements of these exams.
I offer 1-1 sessions to KS3, GCSE and IGCSE students and Adults in their own homes or online. As a subject specialist I can cover all topics and levels needed for these exams. Hello! I'm a university senior lecturer, and I've been involved in engineering research and university lecturing for three decades. I've taught UG and PG courses including dynamics, control, electricity, mathematics. Also, aircraft performance and atmospheric fixed- and rotary-wing, and space flight dynamics: yes: rocket engineering (it is not "science"!), which is really interesting, and not as difficult as you might think.)
I've always been passionate about maths, mechanics, and engineering. At the age of 17, I won an open scholarship to read engineering science at Balliol College, Oxford University. I had attended a state grammar school in the midlands; my success there was in no small part due to a number of fantastic, dedicated teachers. I graduated from Oxford with a First. I actually took the Lubbock prize for top graduating mechanical engineer. Later, I earned my doctorate in Electrical Engineering, from Imperial College; my thesis was on robust multivariable control theory. That is to do with designing feedback systems to stabilize and control com plex systems like helicopters and chemical processes.
I've taught and carried out research in academia for thirty years. My main achievements so far have in the design of novel, advanced fly-by-wire control systems for rotary-wing aircraft. I've published papers and presented research world-wide. I was invited, for example, to present findings on helicopter handling qualities to the aeroflightdynamics directorate at NASA Ames and I've delivered advanced industrial training courses to various clients, including a large training package on robust control and flight dynamics to a well known european helicopter manufacturer engaged in a collaboration to develop an unmanned tilt-rotor aircraft.
Recently, I've stated giving some tuition to school students, including French at basic level. I would be very happy to talk to you to see if I might be able to help you with your maths and mechanics.

I have four years of teaching experience from my various placements throughout the years. I possess a calm demeanor and approachable personality, which makes it easier for children to come and speak to me. Moreover, I am skilled at maintaining boundaries and managing behavior within the classroom. I am a highly organized individual with excellent time management skills. Through my work placements, I have been able to improve my ability to manage my workload and time effectively.
Currently, I am on placement in a year 5 classroom where I am working on a research project focused on enhancing multiplication skills in the school. I am also working on a case study with a child who struggles with dyscalculia. During this time, I am taking a closer look at the Maths and SEND curriculum to explore how I can adapt certain areas to better support my project and case study. I find this work very fulfilling as it allows me to contribute to school improvement and work directly with children.
When I was 16, I attended the Southern Regional College for two years and completed my Level Three Extended Diploma in Early Childhood Studies. As part of my course, I had to do placement every Tuesday and Wednesday, and I worked as a teaching assistant in my old primary school. This experience made me realize that I wanted to become a class teacher and pursue this career further.
In Northern Ireland, I have tutored three children between the ages of 8 and 16. I have worked with children who struggle with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning difficulties. I enjoy tutoring and getting the chance to support children individually.
Outside of school, I enjoy going to the gym and running. I also do Irish dancing, which I have been doing since the age of 6.
