Me, myself and teaching
My name is Sofía Borrego Morena and I was born in Andalusia, South of Spain; although I was living in Torroella de Montgrí, in Catalonia, for ages. Torroella is a cultural village with a huge historical past in the middle of the Costa Brava.
I am the youngest of four sisters which two of them are living in England nowadays. Moreover, I have got a son, Arnau, he is studying at Barcelona’s University. He is smarter than me and I feel very proud of him.
I studied Art History at the University of Girona. I used to be art reviewer and now I am looking for a permanent position as a teacher. My master degree and other qualifications permit me to teach some languages as: Spanish, Catalan, French and English for foreigners. I have been teaching languages for students and adults for more than 3 years. In UK, I have been teaching Spanish and French to KS3 and KS4, and I am capable to teach Spanish in KS5.
My students are a bit different than me, when I used to go to Secondary School, same problems but dissimilar behaviours. I found them very active and with clearer ideas that I used to have. For this reason, I try to training hard and catch up about all the new ways to approach to teach.
To sum up, I would be delighted to be part of your educational team at the School. I might be able to offer some substantial and enjoyable lessons.

I have had experience working in primary schools for almost two years now, working with children with SEND and SEMH difficulties as well as other children to help them achieve their full academic potential. I have delivered 1:1 and small group based interventions in age ranges from 4 years old in their early years all the way up to 11 in the run up to SATs. I have spent a lot of time working with children who had the academic level of several years below their age group however after sometime of 1:1 intervention they have thrived and caught up with their peers. Not only have I worked with children for their academics but I have also worked with children to help give them the opportunity to learn self regulation and mental health support. This has come from a wide range of support programmes such as zones of regulation and social detective. I pride myself on how fun and engaging I like to make my time with children and with how much of a difference emotion coaching can make to their lives. In the run up to SATS I worked in delivering intervention based lessons to our cusp students to help them go on to achieve greater depth in their SATs but also to help children who believed they couldn’t do their SATs.

My previous positions of being an active member on the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) in Coventry and Community Empowerment Network (CEN) has provided me with the skills to voice, on governmental boards whereby overseeing new reforms. I have many acquaintances both in local and national government enabling me re-organise and restructure any improvements and developments that are deemed necessary.
I am bi-lingual which benefits organisations to communicate effectively and express their visions to a wider audience. This was considerably effective whilst be a school governor and communicating in the BME communities.
My role as a Cross Cultural relocation consultant for Global company Cartus International included assignments to relocate aid and train employees from high profile companies as Goldman Sachs, BT, Tata, Rolls Royce and JLR. Previous to this my position with the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) was to engage employers with students and people actively seeking employment either via apprenterships or full/part time employment. The engagement with employers, funding organisations created an understanding of the processes required to fulfilling the requirements.
My current position through choice is of a freelance supply teacher whereby I can teach a wide spectrum of subjects, which aids me to understand the requirements and special needs of each subject or department. Each and every school I have taught at has expressed an interest in retaining me for the position on a permanent basis because the schools have increased student success rate by 5% in 2014 and 2015. I have planned implemented various academic incentive programs for student enrichment. With these programs students develop a sense of self-awareness by competing for academic incentives for, outstanding performance and attendance. Other programs have created a student-based academic schedule to ensure the best learning environment for elementary attendance.
I am extremely astute in the areas of business whereby my specialist subject of teaching is Business. No matter what I have done, I have produced work always to a high standard because I’m dedicated to making sure each and every project that I am doing or have done is done to the very best of my ability, whereby being motivated organized and disciplined is a key strength which has enabled me therefore to having no regrets afterwards. I am not anxious about change or afraid of not knowing an answer as this entices me with a challenge and a challenge is what drives and prompts me to succeed. Whether it’s finding the solutions to maximise student participation enjoyment and amplifying student grades or internal corporate involvement, I pride myself on my ability to recognize and articulate a distinct voice for every project. And that’s not always restricted to the written word.
I am looking for a Teaching position where my contributions count and my efforts are appreciated.
