Specialises in US, Korea/Vietnam, Norman England and Migration units at GCSE - former examiner - and Unit 2R Cold War at A level. I am an educator with nearly 15 years experience of teaching people from all ages and backgrounds in a variety of settings, both formal and informal. I am a specialist history teacher with experience of teaching from Years 4 to 13, but I have also taught RS and geography curriculums. I am a qualified SENCO, who has a CPT3A qualification in psychometric testing and exam access arrangements. I have a particular interest in supporting people who have additional learning needs and / or are from a disadvantaged background to reach their potential. With this in mind, I also tutor GCSE English to students with SEND, including students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dysgraphia.

Hello! My name is Holly and I am straight A grade A level student now studying Art at University. I tutor specialising in English Language, Literature, History and Art at KS3, GCSE and A level. I am a 65 years old tutor of predominantly History and Politics, with English and Religious Studies as my supplementary subjects.

As you will note from my qualifications and professional experience, I have taught all four subjects for some 35 years, at College, University, Sixth Form College and High School. While the majority of my teaching has been in the UK, mainly in Birmingham, London and Bristol, nevertheless I have also taught abroad at university in the Philippines. Additionally, I have been an A'Level Politics and History examiner for the former London and Oxford & Cambridge boards in the 1990s and early post-millennium decade. So also, have I written course brochures for the History and Politics Distance - learning programmes for the National Extension College, Cambridge. All of this has added up to my having acquired a broad professional experience, which I put to the benefit of my students.
My teaching style is very much subject and communication based, with the emphasis applying knowledge and essay skills towards achieving the best exam results. There is also a priority attached to reading and grammar skills, both of which appear to be neglected by the contemporary British educational establishment. Hopefully I can use my experience and robust teaching methods towards enabling students to gain their best performance in exams and careers. - Please also note that I am happy to tutor students on-line - ie. Skype (Preferred) or Zoom, and have a fair experience of this kind of teaching.
As a former A-Level student, and a young person myself, I recognise the importance of teaching and helping others on a level that all students can understand, thus having a greater impact on the academic achievement of any person. I have a passion for education growth which is supported by my work with the LetHerLearn scheme, which is why helping young people to achieve their best through academics is so important to me. Whilst academics is highly regarded, my passion and talent in Ballroom, Latin and Street dancing, achieving grades from highly commended to distinction, is also something I enjoy helping others learn.
