Every child deserves an opportunity to reach their maximum potential. In addition to focusing on a child`s academic progress, I always look for opportunities to boost their confidence and self-esteem - as these are crucial for a holistic development. Difficult concepts are broken down in smaller ones through scaffolding using different techniques differentiated according to each child`s individual need. It is important to push each child past their comfort zone, and I do exactly that with the students I tutor by challenging them in different ways. I tutor children across the primary phase, all the way from teaching how to read and write in English, to solving complex problems in Maths, to preparing them for their upcoming SATs or 11+ exams.
I tailor my lessons to cater for each child's individual needs. I have a gentle and friendly approach towards children and I always look for ways to help them make connections between the things they learn and for them to develop a love for learning. I believe that every child is truly special and unique. I have successfully tutored children with specific learning needs, as well as children that have English as an additional language. With over ten years of teaching experience in an outstanding London primary school, I have honed my expertise in supporting children's learning and development. For the past eight years, I have served as the Maths Curriculum Lead, working to improve maths outcomes across the school. Additionally, I have led 11+ tuition groups for disadvantaged Year 4 and Year 5 pupils, helping them prepare for entrance exams with confidence.
Currently, I am an Assistant Head Teacher, and my passion for education drives me to provide high-quality tutoring in both English and maths for children aged 8 and older, including 11+ exam preparation. Kate is a British teacher & author. She attended an all-girls grammar school & graduated with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Kent. She went on to receive a Post Graduate Diploma & a Masters in Education.
For 10 years, Kate worked in Hong Kong as a NET (native English teacher), aiding Secondary Schools in establishing an English rich environment, promoting the love of reading & writing through language arts, as well as speech festivals and debate training. She is currently a freelance writer and private tutor.
As well as ESL teaching, her focus levels are also on GCSE & A Level (OCR, AQA, Edexcel), igcse, 11+, IELTS & HKDSE.
Some of her published work includes: Grade 1-Grade 3 Grammar textbooks for those learning English as a second language, a poetry collection “The Forgotten” & her fantasy novel “Caskets of Ice”.

Throughout university I have consistently achieved First Class marks in assignments, with some upper 2:1 level. Due to the ongoing marking boycott, I am yet to receive my final degree classification, however it is confirmed that I have guaranteed an upper 2:1.
At GCSE, I achieved full marks in 4 of the English Literature questions, and was in the highest www.*** of the country for English Literature. The rest of my grades consist of an 8, 4A*s, 2As, 1B.
I was offerd a place to study English Literature and Education Studies at Cambridge University (2020), however due to personal reasons I had to release this offer and defer. I instead studied a year later at Durham University, an extremely selective, world top university with extremely high standard teaching.
I will be commencing my Masters degree in Law at the University of Law next year.
