I was born and raised in Germany. I went to Australia for nearly two years before moving to England in 2017. I gained vast experiences throughout my life so far. I currently work as a EAL Learning Mentor in a seconadry school in Lancashire and know what it's like to learn a new language. I teach and work with 120 EAL pupils from different countries all over the world. But I also run my own German after school club in my school and the pupils and staff love it. I do miss Germany sometimes and thought it would be a nice opportunity to teach someone else a bit of German.

Hi, I´m Helena, I am a native German and I simply love tutoring. I am enthusiastic about languages, and I hope I can inspire you. At school, I learned 3 foreign languages and so I was also in the position of being a second-language learner myself and can relate to the struggles, but also the passion, of learning new languages. I would love to help you improve your German: whether spoken, written, improving your accent, or simply building your vocabulary. I also help with or conduct German translations. I will first find out the level of German you are currently at and what you intend to learn. I will measure your strengths and weaknesses and create a tailored lesson plan. The focus of my tutoring will be set on the area which is the most difficult for you to learn, whether that is grammar, vocabulary, conversation skills or other. I work with a great variety of materials, ranging from traditional documents and task sheets to films, articles, and language games. In my opinion, it is very important that you have fun during lessons, so I always try to come up with new ideas. I give my best talking slowly and understandably, so you will see progress quickly and benefit from the lesson. I have already recognized my passion for teaching as a German, Maths and English tutor and as a sports coach in Germany. More recently I began teaching German here in the UK both in person as well as virtually. To make sure that I support my students in the most effective way, I informed myself about the UK school system and the existing expectations regarding both curriculum and exams. Additionally, I could already gain some tutoring experience for international students. I am currently Head of MFL in a successful mainstream secondary school (Academy) in Lancashire.
