I am currently a master's student of Teessidee University studying MSc. IT project management.
I have been teaching for the past 18 years. I have worked in primary schools across County Durham and have considerable experience in teaching across all the primary phases. I have lots of experience teaching pupils with autism, adhd, dyslexia, dyscalculia and emotional and behavioural problems. My approach is that learning should be fun, creative but also providing the essential skills all children need to make good progress. I am adept at planning sessions that cover the national curriculum requirements , but at the same time making sure I meet the child where they are in their journey of learning. I have a caring, nurturing approach but set high standards of achievement with all my pupils.
As a secondary school teacher, I know and anticipate the needs of my pupils and endeavour to make sure that their needs are met effectively and efficiently.
Part of my role is to bridge the gaps in knowledge to ensure that students are making progress and to push them to go from borderline grade 3 to 4 and similarly from borderline grade 6 to 7. I effectively plan strategies based on the individual needs of my pupils and work closely with them and the parents to achieve desired results.
I am retired and currently live in North Yorkshire with my wife of 33 years, Diane. We have one daughter, Ellis who lives in South London, studying for her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with the NHS. I enjoy walking, travelling, silent movies and Rugby Union.
I am looking for a part time role to keep me mentally stimulated and meet people. I am hard working and a quick learner with broad interests.
