I am a professional violinist, violist and conductor, studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Cambridge. As a Supervisor in the Faculty of Music, I teach undergraduate music students at Cambridge. I also teach conducting, violin, viola, and chamber music at the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians in Essex. With over nine years of tutoring experience, I also offer private tuition in violin, viola, orchestral conducting, music, music theory, philosophy, history, essay and dissertation skills, english literature, classical civilisation and violin performance.
From the age of 17, I have taught violin and viola to a variety of students, ranging from children and adults beginning their studies, to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills.
Alongside my MPhil studies at Cambridge, in which I specialised in the cultural history and musical aesthetics of Germany and France in the Long Nineteenth Century, I began working as a freelance academic tutor, and taught Music, History, Philosophy, English Literature, Dissertation Skills, and Classics to A-Level Students. I have since developed two years’ experience, in which I have taught over 900+ hours of educational content with a diversity of tutoring organisations and online education platforms. I also have experience teaching in a classroom setting. I worked as an Assistant Music Teacher at a Sixth Form College, which involved teaching Music A-Level students. I have also worked with academic summer schools in Oxford to prepare Oxbridge hopefuls for their entrance examinations.

Approach to Teaching
– I favour a structured approach to teaching. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs. I also inform the design of my classes through a constructive dialogue with my students. This enables me to structure my lessons within a curriculum that meets my students' specific educational needs, and serves to enable my students to achieve tangible improvements in their academic performance and musical ability.
Academic Tuition
– My academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar style format, in which I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary which my students can use to develop essays, essay plans, revision tools, and exam revision packs.
– I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli.
– I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing short points of rest or temporary closure, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises.
Musical Performance
– Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.
– I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.
Lesson Structure
– Academic lessons tend to be 45–60 minutes in length, but I can adapt my teaching schedule to provide students with additional support if needed.
– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters for a student's requirements.

I am an instrumental woodwind teacher and a classroom teacher in a school teaching up to and including GCSE - current board we use is Eduqas. I teach flute, clarinet, sax and recorders all to high ABRSM levels - no student has ever failed under my tuition. I teach beginners up to diploma level.
Many of my students have enjoyed successes at various music festival competitions, have played for royalty and have even had the pleasure of performing at the Royal Albert Hall.

I have recently completed a BA in Music at the University of Lincoln and am now studying for a Master's degree in Musicology at the University of Edinburgh. I have played the violin for 15 years and am open to students of any age/ability.
Main instrument is violin but can also teach ukulele. I'm happy to help prepare for any GCSE or A Level exams in terms of theory and history. I can also help with performance anxiety and techniques.

I am a Master's graduate and classically trained singer who is an experienced performer within theatre and classical music. I currently work as a freelance educator with a rounded expertise in many areas of employment, predominantly as a teacher of the Performing Arts. I have worked as a teacher of Drama, Voice and Communications at a well known private school and as a private Performing Arts coach for multiple schools and companies. I operate predominantly as a self-employed person within businesses and schools and I am therefore responsible for all of my own administration and organisation as well as liaising with these various institutions.

One of my most rewarding roles was working with NCS with The Challenge as both a Performing Arts Tutor and Public Speaking Coach. In the first role, I was able to teach performing arts and devising work to GCSE leavers in areas of London, and I enabled them to use their newfound skills to liaise and work with local charities creating new devised performances every week, which would then lead to a collaborative project to enable them to give back to their local community.

Offering lessons in person or online, I have been performing professionally for 38 years and teaching for 26 years. I was initially taught piano by my grandfather, the renowned concert pianist and head of piano at RSAMD, Jack Wight www.*** I then completed my studies under Ms Anna Rastopchina. I currently play in an 8-piece function band as well as a jazz ensemble. I am also the musical director for shows held in the Clyde Auditorium and the Dumbarton theatre every spring. I teach piano & keyboard to all ages and stages. Roughly half my students study for the ABRSM piano grades, and so far my pupils (over 200 candidates) have a 100% pass rate. My other students play for enjoyment, learning various styles and technique. I also prepare students for the school curriculum Nat 4/5, Higher Music and Advanced Higher Music. I teach classical piano, jazz, pop, blues, music theory and composition. I tailor all lessons to the individual needs and aspirations of the student, employing various teaching styles. I also teach some pupils to play by ear, as well as improvisational skills, if requested. I prefer to teach from my own house, where I have a beautiful Yamaha U3 piano, as well as a Nord digital 88 piano, Roland Juno DS keybpoard/synthesizer, vintage Hammond organ and Leslie speaker and recording equipment. I teach to all ages, up to Grade 8 on the Drums, Grade 4 on the Guitar and on the Piano I will teach to a high standard, but not through the grading system as I only teach basic level sight reading for Piano.

In my lessons I will take the students up through the Grades (ONLY for Drums and Guitar), via Rockschool, teaching them everything they need from technique, learning how to sight read, developing improvisation skills, playing in many different genres of music, and how to play by ear. I will also cover how to complement the music you are playing to and how to serve the music. As well as developing musicianship skills and how to have the right attitude in the music business.

My violin lessons are for anyone, no matter how young or old, who wants to learn to play the violin within the context of folk, pop, or rock. We will look at classical violin technique to ensure safety whilst playing, as well as how to read music and music theory. MUSIC PRODUCTION LESSONS:
At its simplest, music production is the careful creative process of capturing and showcasing the raw recordings of a track, arranging them in the sonic sphere in such a way that a listener can truly connect with the artist's intention. More complexly, it can build an intriguing world of sound around the core songwriting/compositional elements. I teach my students how to use music production software and how to put sounds together, leading through to creating fully recorded, produced, mixed and mastered music projects.
