I have since moved back to the UK where I have completed my BA (Hons) in Language Studies with French and Spanish and I also continue to speak French everyday with my French husband and we are bringing up our 2 year-old daughter as bilingual.

I am friendly, approachable and enjoy making learning meaningful for pupils. My lessons begin with starting activities to recap the previous learning, identify any misconceptions. Moving onto the main part of the lesson I plan activities promoting fluency in the skill then application to a real-life situation or worded exam-style question. Harriet lived in Spain on the Costa Blanca for sixteen years where she grew up speaking the Spanish language with fluency. During this time Harriet taught at an International Language School in Spain and decided to return to the UK, where she was educated at Rugby School and then went on to obtain her degree in Spanish at the University of Chester.
In 2010 she set up The Spanish Academy, offering Spanish tuition to adults & children of all ages, and also became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. She has taught in a variety of secondary schools across Norfolk & Cambridgeshire and specialises in Spanish GCSE & A level tuition. After ten successful years, she is now tutoring on an online platform as well as face to face and teaching students from some of the UK’s top public schools such as Eton, Harrow & Radley.

I understand that nowadays it is harder to encourage students to find the joy in learning, so I hope I will be able to inspire some joy from the process. It is my intention to demonstrate that the difficulty of each subject should not deter a student, but rather intrigue them into learning more.
I have been teaching online for 6 months, utilising tools like online whiteboards and powerpoint presentations to assist in the learning process. I have found students to enjoy online learning as it eradicates the fear of starting tutoring with someone they do not yet know, and therefore their confidence and approach to their work is heightened at a far quicker pace!
I have been teaching French and Spanish for over 25 years, in secondary schools, adult education courses and business companies. I have also implemented and developed a Latin GCSE course in my local school, which has been thriving for 25 years. I am experienced in teaching all levels up to advanced for French and A'level for Spanish and Latin.

I did my teacher training in 2001-2002 after 2.5 years of being a French assistant in London schools. I starting private tuition in 1999.
