I have previous experience in tutoring people of a similiar age to me at school in order to help them achieve their desired grades. This included ages ranging from 9 (primary school) to 16 (secondary school) year olds. I assisted many students preparing for exams as well as some students just looking to widen their knowledge and improve their general ability in school. I used a nurturing and gentle approach and plan to do so going forward. I believe that this helped many people to unlock their full potential and prepare them for future exams beyond their GCSEs! Using a slow and steady approach ensures that students can easily apply their knowledge in exams, as well as just understanding the content. Specifically, during my tutor lessons students would be aided through practice papers as well as thoroughly explaining the content to ensure they are fully prepared for stressful and possibly unpredictable exams. Additionally, I have access to a wide variety of teaching and revision resources which I intend on using to aid my tutoring and can be used by students to improve their individual study sessions. My tutoring sessions would be suited for GCSE students and younger only as I will only be starting my A-Levels in September. Lengths of sessions can easily be altered, however a typical one would last between 1 and 2 hours. Again, this can easily be altered to suit a specific students needs.

My name is Zoë and I am currently 18 and on my gap year with the intent to start university in September, where I will study a course centered around Anthropology, politics and various cultural studies. So far this year I have held the position of pre-nursery and K1 teacher at an international kindergarten in Hong Kong, travelled through the Philippines and have become certified a TEFL tutor; before my gap year is over I am aiming to do some more traveling, gain more qualifications and secure an internship.

From these three qualifications I have learnt essential skills, for example, orientation and navigation using both traditional ordnance survey maps (OSM) and military grade gps equipment, plotting treks and hikes that rage from 6-18km, basic bush craft and practical camping experience; as well as learning to rely on my own dependability and capabilities as a team member and leader.

Relying on the skills and experience gained from Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and Army camps and training, I was equipped with the ground knowledge required to safely begin a basic mountaineering course. However, due to extreme weather conditions and the surrounding environment licensed professionals were required to to train all participants in navigation (map and compass skills, navigating through a snow storm, rock navigation etc), basic rock climbing techniques (how to leverage your weight, use a harness, how and where to place your feet and properly climb and down climb) avalanche safety and companion rescue, packing for an expedition, Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid, the ways in which equipment like ice axes and crampons must be correctly used and snow-holing. All entirely new and daunting challenges that have taught me to carefully listen to instructions while also forcing me think on my feet and calculate a plan in unexpected situations.

Weekly 3hr long sessions along side multiple expeditions/ camps per semester have equipped me for the the hard work, determination and commitment required in all walks of life.
