I have over forty years' experience of private tuition to students aged 2 to adult. I have taught maths and English to all ages, including preparing students for entrance exams. I also teach science up to KS3. I have worked with those for whom English is not their first language, to help them improve their skills. Studying both the English Language, Literature and Drama at A-Level has helped me gain critical analysis, research, and essay-writing skills. Studying Drama has had a huge impact on my life. For our devised performance, we decided to concentrate on women and how they are degraded and disrespected. Our piece was dedicated to women killed due to male violence. Drama has given me the skills for teaching as it has taught me how to deal well with ever-changing circumstances, teamwork, and keep myself and others motivated. Not everything always goes according to plan; therefore, being able to adapt to different situations is highly useful. I believe that keeping motivated is vital in education; when someone does not have any motivation, it can take a toll on others around them, too. I have a positive personality that can captivate individuals effectively while maintaining a professional manner. I was a part of the RAFAC for 4 years, encouraging me to strive for perfection. During these years, I completed several coa singer and leader, devising myurses, including leadership, health and safety, first aid, cyber and radio and DofE; these have all helped me to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, mental agility, and the importance of being a respectful, upstanding member of the community.

I’ve been teaching now for 25+ years. During that time I’ve taught the whole age and ability range from age 11 to A level. Since 2011 I have been tutoring one to one and also small groups. So far all of my students have achieved their required grades.
I have taught in schools and colleges at home as well as abroad. I am still enthusiastic and able to tailor my lessons to suit all individuals, including those with extra educational needs. In my home I have a designated teaching room where I have all my resources too. As long as the student is within a reasonable distance I would be happy to travel.

Since studying French with English Literature at The University of Surrey, I have been helping my students learn both French and English via Zoom. I am proud to say that they have been scoring highly in both written and oral tests.
After working for language schools in Rennes such as Institut-Mondia-Langues and Les Petits Bilingues, I have begun teaching group classes of both primary and secondary-aged students in addition to one-to-one tutorials. My tutorials are well prepared, structured, and adapted to your child/ren’s learning style/s. The first Zoom call is an opportunity to discuss their learning objectives; these might be goals such as developing their spoken language skills in French/English, or something more specific such as providing additional support for students with dyslexia.
Whatever your child’s learning needs may be, they will be given a structured learning plan targeting the aspects that they would like to work on (speaking, listening, writing, vocabulary, grammar etc).
In my classes, students benefit from language acquisition as well as learning, which is essentially the process of identifying sounds > associating those sounds with meaning > imitating the sounds to convey meaning.
This process takes practice, so I focus on overcoming obstacles that might inhibit fluency in speech or coherency in writing. For example, many of my students struggle with spoken expression at first due to a lack of confidence. To help with this, I create an interactive learning space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, empowering them to make progress.
Homework and in-class activities are used to target the areas where your child/ren may face difficulties, which we then work through together in class.
