My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual needs of each student. I understand that every student has a unique learning style and pace, and I work to create a supportive and encouraging environment that fosters growth and development. With extensive experience in tutoring for SATS, GCSE, A-Level and entrance exams such as 7+, 11+, and 13+, I have a deep understanding of the skills and knowledge required for success in these exams. I’ve been teaching now for 25+ years. During that time I’ve taught the whole age and ability range from age 11 to A level. Since 2011 I have been tutoring one to one and also small groups. So far all of my students have achieved their required grades.
I have taught in schools and colleges at home as well as abroad. I am still enthusiastic and able to tailor my lessons to suit all individuals, including those with extra educational needs. Hi, i’m Ethan, a friendly, approachable, fully qualified teacher with a vast amount of experience with tutoring children with additional needs. 📚 I have worked in a number of schools (both SEN and mainstream) across Sheffield as a www.*** teacher. This has enabled me to develop my teaching skill set and adapt my skills to a wide range of pupil needs. I have experience with a number of different additional needs, including ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia. I pride myself on adapting lessons to those with additional needs, who may struggle with learning in a classroom. I use a variety of different techniques and work by splitting up topics and teaching them in a way that is understandable and engaging. I work with a lot of past papers as I find the best way to study for an exam is to practice as much as possible looking at the actual exam. This not only gets students used to answering questions in a way that the exam board wants but helps to solidify key knowledge too. ⚽️ I specialise in Physical Education and sport related subjects as it has always been a passion of mine. I have coached many successful football team over the past 8 years and thoroughly enjoy it.
With over a decade working in education and private tuition, I have extensive experience in preparing students for National exams. Academically, I focus on English Language and Literature, French and Spanish. I also have a wealth of experience in successfully preparing students for the Foundation Tier Maths exam.
At GCSE and IGCSE level I have experience teaching all of the major exam boards including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, WJEC, CIE and OCR. There isn't a great deal of variation between the different boards in terms of content as GCSE level is largely standardised. Nevertheless it does help to be familiar with the variation in the emphasis of a particular syllabus and the format of the exam paper.
I hold a BA and MA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford. I found the tutorial experience offered at Oxord University to be a revelatory way of learning and so when beginning my career in education, from an early stage, this became the route I decided to pursue.
