Having studied English Literature and Language at Leeds University, I then combined my passion for English with my passion for helping young people and became a school teacher.
During my time as a teacher I have progressed to the point where I now lead a large English faculty in a secondary school. I have over 15 years of teaching both English Literature ans Language and regularly see students under my tutelage achieve excellent results at both GCSE and A Level.
I have developed a range of methods and techniques to ensure students are engaged with their learning - when this happens, any barriers to learning are broken down and rapid progress can take place.
I am currently an A-level student studying Mathematics, Computer Science and Psychology. I have always found that different need different approaches to learning and teachers aren't always able to provide that, when they have to cater to a class of so many students, so I want to help students in a one to one environment, where I can commit my time to their learning. In school I have previously done tutoring for Maths and reading for lower years and developed. I also struggle with concentration so I have developed many useful strategies and solutions in order to stay focused adn get the best out of revision and learning.
Firstly, we offer a free assessment. An assessment in English and maths takes around one and a half hours to complete. At the end of that time we’ll be in a position to tell you where your son’s / daughter’s strengths and weaknesses lie.
If you decide to enrol, we tutor in 80 minute blocks, during that time students will complete about 6 – 8 activities, some on the computer and some using the written curriculum resources we have.
We design an individual program for each of our students and aim it at their level of understanding to improve them as quickly as they can manage.
We tutor in small groups with a maximum of five in a group. However, we don’t teach them as a group, as each child has different needs and will be at a different stage, so they are all taught one to one and the tutor gives individual support and feedback on their work throughout the session. This promotes independent learning and gives the children time to think through what they are currently working on.
All our sessions are delivered in our dedicated centre, which provides a safe environment without the distractions that can be a drawback to delivering tuition at home.
We charge £31 for an 80 minute session, which is £23. 25 per hour comparatively.
Because we are Ofsted registered we can accept childcare vouchers, or Working Tax Credits can be used against the fees.
We run sessions on Tuesday to Friday at 4:00pm, 5:30pm and 7:00pm and on Sundays at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12 noon.
I would be very pleased to hear from you should you wish to book a free assessment.
I am a KS3/GCSE English tutor based in Bradford with over a decade of experience in English in some form or another. I specialise in text analysis and essay writing, but also cover other forms of writing (creative, formal, etc) and grammar and vocabulary. My qualifications include: a 2. 1 BA Open Degree that focused on the study of the English language, analysis of the effects of literature on a society and lots and lots of essays; and several years of tutoring, but remotely online and in person.
My ethos is all about creating engaging, enthusiastic environment where students can take in lessons away from the pressures of the classroom. I apply a range of methods, from worksheets to interactive games to discussion. My goal is to make English fun and accessible to all levels of learning.
I have 2 years experience in tutoring and am well trained in working with children and young people from my recent employment.
Student Tutor, South Craven School, (September 2015 – June 2017)
· During my time as a year 12 and 13 student I tutored year 7 and 8 students who were struggling with their English and History studies.
· I supported the younger students through one on one teaching methods, learning individual student's strengths and weaknesses and planning my sessions with them accordingly. I used methods such as flashcards, memory tests and interactive games.
· I gained invaluable skills; I can present concepts in an accessible and engaging manner and I have strong organisational skills with pre-planned, individually targeted lessons.
For further information regarding my wider CV, employment history, tutoring etc please contact me. Hope to learn with you soon!
I make all my lessons interactive so that way you have fun whilst learning ☺️ I know what it's like to hate studying, not having anything sink in but trying so hard. Let's give it a go, try a session out and take it from www.*** ;
