A little about me in the school setting
My roles have allowed me to build on a range of areas that I have been interested in for some time. My focus on ‘pedagogy’ has been developed towards ‘praxis’ – the idea that one reflects and acts uponp ractice to transform it. What I have learnt is that a narrow focus on the classroom isn’t enough. Instead,an effective system is one which develops productive and synergistic relationships between learners,families, and the community, and that a deep understanding of the context in which you work, the locality and the culture in which learners live is crucial. I believe we have started on exciting journey here proceeding and developing positively on recent Ofsted feedback – building on those to ensure that learning really is a community endeavour in the best possible sense. My ‘curriculum’ will not stop at the door of a classroom, or the school gate but will be a transforming powerhouse for all living in the community. This, in practical terms could be parenting support in the form of coaching and peer support; providing evening classes in basic skills, parental revision classes to help them best assist their child. It could be using the school buildings as a base of local CPD provision, for meetings, for collaboration among local departments.

I am a professional violinist, violist and conductor, studying for a PhD in Music at the University of Cambridge. As a Supervisor in the Faculty of Music, I teach undergraduate music students at Cambridge. I also teach conducting, violin, viola, and chamber music at the Saffron Walden Centre for Young Musicians in Essex. With over nine years of tutoring experience, I also offer private tuition in violin, viola, orchestral conducting, music, music theory, philosophy, history, essay and dissertation skills, english literature, classical civilisation and violin performance.
From the age of 17, I have taught violin and viola to a variety of students, ranging from children and adults beginning their studies, to more advanced performers looking to improve their technical facility and performance skills.
Alongside my MPhil studies at Cambridge, in which I specialised in the cultural history and musical aesthetics of Germany and France in the Long Nineteenth Century, I began working as a freelance academic tutor, and taught Music, History, Philosophy, English Literature, Dissertation Skills, and Classics to A-Level Students. I have since developed two years’ experience, in which I have taught over 900+ hours of educational content with a diversity of tutoring organisations and online education platforms. – I favour a structured approach to teaching. I devise lesson plans in advance of every lesson, catered to the student's specific needs. I also inform the design of my classes through a constructive dialogue with my students. This enables me to structure my lessons within a curriculum that meets my students' specific educational needs, and serves to enable my students to achieve tangible improvements in their academic performance and musical ability.
Academic Tuition
– My academic lessons tend to be structured around specific sections of the syllabus, or particular topics that students require help with.
– I employ a seminar style format, in which I flesh out ideas with the aid of quotations, other audio-visual resources, and analytical commentary which my students can use to develop essays, essay plans, revision tools, and exam revision packs.
– I use Powerpoint to provide students with a variety of resources and visual stimuli.
– I structure my lesson plans with a view to providing short points of rest or temporary closure, in which students are able to ask questions about the content. I am also happy for students to interrupt the flow of the lesson if a burning question arises.
Musical Performance
– Violin lessons tend to be carefully planned to focus on specific technical aspects of performance. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.
– I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.
Lesson Structure
– Academic lessons tend to be 45–60 minutes in length, but I can adapt my teaching schedule to provide students with additional support if needed.
– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters for a student's requirements.

As mentioned, I'm currently a student who is about to enter Sixth Form at the beginning of the next academic term. As a teacher, l portray myself to be very calm, considerate and patient. I have developed such a diverse skillset from being both a proud older sibling and an incredible teacher to many of my friends and relatives of whom would reinforce my words. Likewise, I'm a very friendly, caring and understanding young lady who enjoys developing new connections and supporting others to the best of my abilities! This is reflected in my style of teaching as I enjoy elaborating further on points students may not quite grasp at first glance as well as providing a fun and inclusive environment where students on feel they are able to work to their full potential without fear of judgement for whatever reason! Although I'm just entering Sixth Form, l believe that my teaching capabilities are just as elaborate and enlightening as someone of a higher qualification. As an aspiring teacher, l acquire excellent communication skills which allow students to feel comfortable in the created learning environment moreover they're more likely to thrive with a humerous and thoughtful teacher. I am a current PhD candidate in the field of Philosophy and I am an experienced English Literature and Philosophy Tutor. I am experienced with SEN students and adult learners. I can aid in University applications to Masters level. During my Bachelor's degree, I obtained an internship at DCU's Student Alumni Office. Here, I welcomed incoming students to DCU and helped them with arising issues. This was my first role working with SEN students. Moreover, I have personal experience with SEN as both of my siblings have disabilities (Epilepsy, ASD, Tourettes and OCD). I am medically knowledgeable and confident working with SEN students.
Moreover, during my Research Masters I gained teaching experience. I organised and conducted lectures for approximately thirty students.
As a young student I tutored, so it is something I have had experience with throughout my academic career. Moreover, I have had an interest in teaching since I was a young person. This is reflected in my younger hobbies of Girl Guides and first job of babysitting.

I have gained QTS grade 1 outstanding in Secondary English. I am an English Language & Linguistics graduate with a passion for helping young people succeed academically and exceeding their goals.
My experience within an educational setting is multifaceted having worked with students across a broad spectrum of ages and abilities both 1-1 and in large groups.
I am familiar with all popular exam boards at GCSE level including AQA, Edexcel and Cambridge iGCSE. I have an in-depth knowledge of the new 9-1 GCSE both language and literature papers. Last year, 90% of my class achieved a grade 7 or above in English Literature (50% achieved a grade 8 or above) and 50% in English Language. My personal progress 8 score was 1. 62 with national average being 0. This demonstrates the outstanding progress made by pupils in my class.
I understand how much pressure students can feel to achieve across all subjects and I am confident in my ability to support students in a professional and friendly manner in helping them to achieve their full potential.
