I am an experienced English teacher who has worked in secondary schools for the over 20 years. I am also an AQA Lead Examiner and and Adviser to more than 150 schools for English Language A Level. I have Advanced Diplomas (post degree) in both Language and Literacy and in Child Development. English Language is my passion though, of course, I have taught GCSE Literature as part of my professional role in school and I love teaching the texts associated with the requirements of the course. I enjoy working with teenagers at both GCSE and A Level though my specialist Language knowledge is particularly relevant to A Level Language students. Increasingly, however, this in depth knowledge is relevant to GCSE English students. I am happy to work with all levels and relish the opportunity to engage with individuals who are seeking to increase their knowledge and understanding of the key requirements for both GCSE and A level courses. I am happy to work online to work one to one with pupils and help them to develop their skills through close monitoring and feedback.

My primary specializaton is helping children gain entrance to their preferred secondary school by tutoring and supporting them to pass the entrance exams. I also tutor mathematics and English for ages 7-13, which is in high demand at the moment due to gaps in knowledge caused by the Covid pandemic.
I spent 6 years working in all age groups in primary school as well as 5 years working with adults teaching English as a second language. I have had much success teaching mathematics, English, eleven plus and secondary school entrance exams to children aged 7-13. I have a high pass rate aiding children to pass their 11 plus exam.
I am skilled at building pupils’ confidence in themselves and their ability to up-level their knowledge and gain success. I am experienced teaching both CEM and GL style 11 Plus English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
I use a pupil-centred approach and cater lessons to meet the needs of the individual, producing rapid results. I have experience working with special needs children and have a particular understanding of the needs of autistic children.
I am a caring, friendly and approachable tutor, giving quality feedback regarding the educational level of the pupil and what the next steps are to achieving their targets. I thoroughly enjoy working with pupils and seeing them grow and flourish brings me much satisfaction.

Hey, I’m Gabs and I've been tutoring English Literature and Drama for GCSE, A-Level and Degree students for 10 years. Exam boards include AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Pearson. My main specialism is teaching Shakespeare and poetry.
One of the things I love about lesson time is watching students’ eyes light up when they grasp something new. It’s such a meaningful profession. What better way to spend my time than helping students learn about the most incredible texts that the world has ever known? I hope my classes stay with students throughout their lives.
I’ve taught students from their first year of high school through to college and university—it’s been a huge pleasure to watch them grow.
Tutoring Experience
Literature and Drama are my main subjects. I’ve taught privately in the UK for 10+ years and I have a full DBS check with a 100% pass rate.
In the last 5 years, I’ve worked as a Copywriter for two award-winning advertising firms, Ogilvy and McCann. So, not only can I help students get great grades, but I can help prep them for the professional workplace. While working in advertising, I really missed teaching full-time, so I decided to quit my job and make this my main focus.
Education-wise, I attended Hillcrest Grammar School, Marple Sixth Form College and Salford University.
In 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature & Creative Writing, First Class Honours.
In 2016, I was awarded The Vice Chancellor's Scholarship to complete a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing and I graduated with a Merit.
Tutoring Approach
My teaching style is friendly, fun and professional aimed at High School students, College and beyond. Lessons are tailored to you and we’ll touch on: - Creative writing - Close readings - Analysing prose texts - Analysing poetry - Shakespeare - Essay structuring, spelling, and grammar - Preparing presentations - Revising for exams - Personal assignments or home-work - Working on monologues - Mastering duologues - Character development
Our lessons take place over for 60 minutes at a rate of £50. I accept PayPal and bank transfers.
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If 24 hours notice is not given, the lesson fee is still paid in full.

Hi! I'm Teacher Abi or Abenaide. I'm a 30 year old English Teacher from Manchester, England. I currently live and teach in Hanoi, Vietnam and have been doing so for almost 4 years! I have a strong passion for learning as I'm a very curious person myself.
Helping people communicate is my goal, no matter what age the student is. I like to lead fun and exciting conversations with lots of opportunity to practice your English!
I usually teach face to face in classrooms or at one to one meetings. Over the past 3 and a half years I have worked in public schools and English centers as well as a Science/Maths/English tutor and most recently at a global softare company.
As a Teacher I am keen to get people talking and really try to engage all ages via fun topics of conversation. I would describe my style as supportive, encouraging and conscientious. I feel a strong sense of pride when my students not only complete the sessions but enjoy them! Games and trivia are always included!

Welcome to my tutoring profile! With over 12 years of experience, I am a highly skilled primary school teaacher specialising in English, Maths, and Phonics for children in Early Years, Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2). I am passionate about helping young learners develop a strong foundation in these fundamental subjects. My expertise lies in guiding students through the intricacies of English language and literature, including reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary building, and creative writing. I employ various interactive techniques to enhance their language skills and foster a love for reading. In the realm of Mathematics, I provide comprehensive support to students, covering topics such as arithmetic, problem-solving, geometry, and algebra. I employ hands-on approaches, visual aids, and real-life examples to make abstract concepts more relatable and enjoyable for students. Phonics, an essential component of early literacy, is another area where I excel. I employ proven strategies to develop students' phonemic awareness, letter-sound recognition, and blending skills. By fostering a strong foundation in phonics, I empower students to become confident readers and spellers. Throughout my teaching/ tutoring career, I have successfully worked with children of diverse learning abilities and backgrounds. I prioritise creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new concepts. My teaching methodology is student-centered, tailored to each learner's unique needs and learning style. I believe in building a strong rapport with my students to foster trust and confidence, thereby maximising their potential. Whether your child needs assistance with specific concepts, exam preparation, or overall academic improvement, I am dedicated to providing personalised tutoring that empowers them to achieve their goals.
