Hello! I'm Louisa, and I have had the privilege of being a dedicated primary teacher for over a decade, with a strong emphasis on Early Years and Key Stage 1 (KS1) education. I have a PGCE in Primary Education and 20 years experience teaching children across the entire primary age range. I approach learning in a fun and engaging way and my friendly and nurturing manner enables all children to succeed and thrive.
I am a fully qualified primary teacher with 12 years experience. I have a lot ef experience as a tutor and aim to make my sessions fun and interactive, using positive praise to build children's self-belief and resilience along the way, while using technology to support their understanding of the concepts being taught.
Since my both of my daughters were diagnosed with dyslexia, I became aware of the challenges they faced every day in the classroom. This in its self spurred me on to become the year 6 teacher I am today. One who will never give up trying to find new and exciting ways to help children learn. Mainly, my forte it's SATs prep, which I've been doing for 7 years helping children not only pass their exams, but instilling confidence within to flourish for the rest of their educational careers. I am a fully qualified teacher and I previously taught in secondary schools in Brighton. For the last ten years I've worked solely as a full time tutor. I do tuition in schools, for local authority agencies and I also do private tuition. As I work solely as a maths tutor I have refined my teaching style, resources and approach over the years to provide a service that always gets positive feedback.
My aim as a tutor is firstly to re-engage my tutees so they gain confidence and a level of understanding that will help them to succeed in class at school. I feel that is important as they will see their class teacher a lot more than they will me.
On my first lesson I always give each student a folder filled with printed resources and an exercise book for us to work in. I also recommend the best websites and apps for them to use (there are so many it is hard to know which are any good). I can also share resources and exam papers electronically with my students and parents.

I have been supporting young people with maths and science learning for over 15 years. I work for the local authority with school refusers or those with a medical need who cannot access mainstream schools. I can support to GCSE science and maths higher level or foundation level. I am supportive and sensitive to different learning styles and have had extensive training fwith the local authority to help my to support those with additional needs. I have a science degree (zoology) and a PGCE (post graduate teaching certificate) . I have an enhanced DBS certificated and have recently undated my safeguarding training.
