Online Dyslexia Dyslexia Lessons
I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with over 10 years of experience. I have a huge passion for teaching and find it most rewarding to see children progress and excel under my guidance.

Every child deserves an opportunity to reach their maximum potential. In addition to focusing on a child`s academic progress, I always look for opportunities to boost their confidence and self-esteem - as these are crucial for a holistic development. Difficult concepts are broken down in smaller ones through scaffolding using different techniques differentiated according to each child`s individual need. It is important to push each child past their comfort zone, and I do exactly that with the students I tutor by challenging them in different ways. I tutor children across the primary phase, all the way from teaching how to read and write in English, to solving complex problems in Maths, to preparing them for their upcoming SATs or 11+ exams.
I tailor my lessons to cater for each child's individual needs. I have a gentle and friendly approach towards children and I always look for ways to help them make connections between the things they learn and for them to develop a love for learning. I believe that every child is truly special and unique. I have successfully tutored children with specific learning needs, as well as children that have English as an additional language. All my students have made excelled progress in their studies, therefore most of my students come from personal recommendations of happy parents :)
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated English tutor, examiner and writer. I offer stimulating and enjoyable lessons via video call which build upon each student's strengths to enable them to overcome their difficulties with greater confidence. I find tutoring immensely rewarding and strive to help all my students meet their full potential regardless of their ability. I have experience teaching SEN students, particularly those with autism, dyslexia and manual difficulties. To date I have had 100% pass rate and all of my students have achieved grades 9-4 (A*- C). I am a member of the Tutors Association and have a current DBS Enhanced certificate .
I understand fully the advantages and disadvantages of studying from home as I have gained all of my qualifications through distance learning, including my PhD. I also home schooled my son from the age of 4-16. I have been a judge of the BBC Radio 2 '500 Words' children's short story competition and a volunteer for the National Literacy Trust's "Summer Reading Challenge" for children. I have a research interest in Thomas Hardy and write poetry and English study guides.
I am a qualified Teacher trained in the UK with 25 years’ teaching experience across a variety of ages and stages within the state school system. I particularly trained as a language specialist working throughout schools supporting my colleagues as an ELP (Early and Primary Language Professional). I have as a result of my accountancy training and additional post graduate learning developed an acute knowledge and awareness of mathematical foundations (that develop mathematical reasoning) and methodology, which I use to further my students mathematical excellence. I pride myself on my ability to identify and resolve students' difficulties, helping them to 'get unstuck' by teaching them the missing skills they need to become competent, independent and enthusiastic learners. Whatever their starting point, I can support them in their journey by providing them with the necessary tools to get them where they want to be. I am additionally an experienced Tutor who has been tutoring both face to face and online closing gaps in children’s learning by ensuring their foundational learning is intact and moving their learning forward so that if their goal is to take independent schools tests or the 11 plus they have the tools to do so.
Additionally I have for the past 2 years been teaching ESL/ESOL, supporting all ages and stages to pass their English Language tests (as well as maths), including Functional Skills and Cambridge tests.

My background and journey
Before working for myself I ran a youth work charity in Cumbria for 10 years, and also worked to empower young people to become active with volunteering in their local community. I taught Psychology at GCSE, A-level, Degree and Post Graduate levels. I have also worked within the homeless sector and within the adult education system coordinating learning support in the same role a SENDCO would have in a school.
My areas of expertise are in dyslexia, trauma and mental health, confidence building, motivation and one to one work. My ability to think outside the box when engaging people means that I capture peoples imagination and show them how they can motivate themselves to be successful. My experience in the Army has also honed my self determination and efficiency.
I am dyslexic, although I wasn’t assessed until I was an adult, I always suspected that I viewed the world in a slightly different way to others. I suspect I have elements of other SpLD's too which means that I have to put more effort into everyday life than most people. This means that I can truly empathise with the people I work with.
My adventure with dyslexia has taught me to understand that what I have to offer is unique and valuable because of my dyslexia, not despite my dyslexia! This is what I want to teach to our everyone in our community who is also neurodiverse.
I am also a mum to a very lively and humorous 10 yr boy. As a parent I understand the issues that parents have in trying to get their child's needs met, this coupled with my experience teaching and coordinating learning support which underpins my training as a dyslexia specialist and trauma and mental health practitioner means that I understand how parents and schools can work together to get the best for every child.
The package I offer
Each child has different needs and this is why I deliver bespoke packages to each person. I also include Dyslexia Gold in my packages and support inbetween lessons via an educational app called edmodo which parents can also have a loggin for so they can monitor all contact between me and a student.

I can also help children and youth or adults who have English to improve their reading, comprehension, speaking listening, spelling skills and teens with study and revision skills and GCSE English literature and Language.
I offer dyslexia tuition via online learning, live ON-LINE group tuition, with lessons in phonics/spelling, punctuation, grammar, study skills and reading & writing skills. On-line lessons to be studied at the child's own pace.

I am a qualified and passionate primary school teacher. I have experience teaching and tutoring across Key Stage 1 and 2. I am a qualified SENCo with vast experience working in mainstream and independent schools across Hampshire and Portsmouth Local Authorities. I am a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Teacher with a number of qualifications in teaching pupils with dyscalculia and numeracy difficulties. Currently, I am studying for a Level 7 qualification in Dyscalculia assessing and teaching, this will consolidate the years of teaching pupils with dyscalculia and dyslexia in a specialist department. My special needs experience extends to the opening of an Autism and Mental Health provision alongside the managing of a dyslexia and dyscalculia provision. I have worked closely with the Local Authorities to support families through the Education Health and Care Plan application process with much success.
Originally, I started out as a music teacher within primary settings until my passion for supporting pupils with additional needs rose up and inspired me to take my initial SEN qualification through training in recognising and teaching Dyslexia and literacy difficulties. From this there was no looking back! I went on to work as a Special Needs Coordinator in three schools across Hampshire and Portsmouth supporting all age groups from 2-16 achieving the National SENCo qualification; later working on my passion for the lesser known Specific Learning Difficulties of Dyscalculia.
My greatest joy and education has come from the adoption of my three children where I have taken extensive training in attachment and trauma informed practice, NVR, therapeutic parenting and the use of PACE. I have first hand knowledge and experience of living and working with autistic individuals and celebrating Neurodiversity in her family life. Anne knows first hand the difficulties of navigating the school SEN systems as a parent and this experience can never be measured but leads to a greater understanding and providing advocacy for parents and pupils alike.
I can teach these subjects in English, French and British Sign Language. I am employed as a support/activity worker and sales assistant. I am also a volunteer online tutor with RefuNet and a volunteer Brownie leader. I have a degree in human biology and an HND in French. From September, I will be completing PGCE in Primary Education. My hobbies and interests include creative writing, researching the Titanic and collecting related memorabilia, voluntary and charity work, listening to music and most forms of arts/crafts. I am based in Southport but I am willing to travel up to 1 mile. I have a vast amount of experience with all ages and abilities. Regularly, I babysit 2 boys, one of whom has autism and the other has ADHD.

I have 15 years’ experience teaching English, including special needs, both in schools and adult education. I’m a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Tutor and work with both children and adults who have dyslexia and/or other SEN. I can offer support with memory, processing and organisation in addition to reading, writing and spelling. The methods used are multisensory and structured. Prior to teaching I always fully assess to identify strengths and areas of development. From this I create an individualised learning plan.
Finally, I am a professional member of the British Dyslexia Association participating in regular Continuing Professional Development to ensure my knowledge and methods stay up to date.
