I graduated from the University of Surrey in July 2023 with a 2:1 degree in BSc Business Economics. For my first two years, I studies BSc Mathematics and Economics but for my final year, I decided to change my degree to Business Economics since I had more of a passion for Business. I studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Economics for my A-Levels and scored ABB respectfully. I scored a grade 9 in GCSE Mathematics (A*) , grade 7 (A) in GCSE English Literature and Language and an A* in GCSE Further Mathematics, scoring 4A*s , 6As and 1B. Mathematics has always been my favourite subject and I also very much enjoy teaching it to other people. I also have a musical background, particularly within playing the piano and keyboard. I am a Grade 8 pianist and I am very close to completion. I am looking to tutor piano or keyboard for people who want to play for pleasure and I am not looking to teach grades or prepare anyone for examinations. My specialty revolves around playing Bollywood and English piano covers.

I hope this Message finds you well. My name is Michael Reda Riyad, and I am a senior computer engineering student currently on an exchange semester at the University of Edinburgh. I am writing to express my strong interest in potentially joining your esteemed Website as a chess coach for children. I would like to share some of my accomplishments and experiences in chess that I believe make me a suitable candidate for a coaching role: National Tournament Success: During my chess journey, I achieved a significant milestone by securing 4th place in the national tournament for youth under 16. This experience not only honed my skills but also instilled in me a deep passion for the game. Open-Section Tournaments: I have consistently performed well in open-section tournaments, demonstrating my ability to adapt to various playing styles and challenges. University Competitions: At my home institution, the American University in Cairo, I actively participated in chess competitions and secured first place in several of them. These experiences enhanced my strategic thinking and leadership abilities. African Universities Chess Competition: As part of a chess team representing my university, I had the privilege of competing in the African Universities Chess Competition held in Kenya. This international exposure expanded my understanding of chess at a global level and allowed me to learn from diverse chess cultures. Given my experience and dedication to the game of chess, I am enthusiastic about the possibility of contributing to the Magnus Chess Academy as a coach for children. I am confident that my skills, passion, and commitment to nurturing young talents align well with your academy's goals. If there are any coaching opportunities available or if you would like to discuss the potential for me to contribute to your academy, I would be delighted to arrange a conversation or an interview at your convenience. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or phone. Thank you for considering my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to the continued success of this website. Sincerely, Michael Reda Riyad

Hello there!, My aim as your tutor is to ideally help instil a deep curiosity and fascination for your subject, I believe we all have that button inside of us, let us find it! I love to provide the big-picture view and give you the confidence to tackle typical problems in your day-to-day classes. Of course, a massive part of my job is to help and alleviate your completely normal anxiety in answering exam questions under tough conditions, and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. I will indeed help you to recognise and deal effectively with exam trickery. My approach is based on 14 years’ experience that the best kind of learning happens in a state of flow or play! :) As a result, I always aim for a fun environment of respect in which the student is facilitated to make novel connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has unique value to students because of my ability to innovatively resolve students’ personal barriers to absorbing new concepts in a way that lays the foundations for a profound future understanding of the subject. My approach does vary according to the student’s needs and learning style. However, my teaching philosophy is based on self-discovery, using real-world examples wherever possible as ultimately you are the self-teacher. I start from topics you are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as your confidence builds. I use questions and examples to concept check continually. I don’t like lecture to students or ask them to memorise their way out. Nor do I do the students’ homework for them but I can help you with it!

From my formative years as a recent high school graduate, a fervent devotion to the intricate game of chess has been an integral part of my life's tapestry. Nurtured by an early fascination, this ardor for chess has blossomed into a remarkable journey of discovery, strategy, and competitive achievement.
Throughout the entirety of my high school sojourn, I dedicated countless hours to the mastery of chess, immersing myself in an array of resources that ranged from age-old tomes to cutting-edge online courses. This tireless pursuit of knowledge allowed me to unearth the myriad stratagems that reside within the game's storied history, shaping my understanding of both its nuances and grand complexities.
Eager to test my burgeoning skills on the grand stage, I ventured into the realm of local and online chess tournaments. With each move and calculated gambit, I etched a path of triumph, culminating in the crowning achievement of securing the illustrious 3rd place in the fiercely contested Lebanese under 18 tournament. This triumph, an ode to my unyielding determination, attested to the fruit of my laborious endeavors.
Furthermore, my dedication to the game manifested in a tangible accolade, as I clinched an official FIDE rating of 1733—an emblem of my prowess recognized on the international stage. This numerical testament to my strategic acumen and tactical finesse stood as a testament to my journey, an irrefutable testament to my evolution as a chess virtuoso.
Yet, my odyssey through the realm of chess was not confined solely to personal achievement. As a Part-Time Chess Teacher Assistant at the esteemed International College of Beirut, I embarked on a new facet of my adventure—an endeavor marked by the sharing of knowledge and the cultivation of nascent talents. Guiding and mentoring students, I channeled my expertise into shaping the minds of the next generation of chess aficionados, imparting not just the mechanics of the game but also the intangible virtues of patience, critical thinking, and strategic decision-making.
In summation, my passage from a recent high school graduate to an accomplished chess enthusiast has been one of relentless dedication, triumphs etched on the board, and the gratification of imparting wisdom to others. This journey, enriched by victories, learning, and the joy of teaching, has indelibly shaped my identity and serves as a resounding testament to the enduring power of the royal game of chess.
