I believe all students can reach their maximum potential if time is taken to find the learning style best suited to them. No question is a silly question and I am happy to help even outside of teaching time where possible. I am currently a first year medical student at the University of Leeds, so I know a thing or two about working hard. It hasn’t been easy to get to this position but with the right mentorship, I believe anything is possible. My teaching style will consist of a range of learning the knowledge as well as applying it through active recall, mini tests (scores do not matter) and past paper questions which can be worked through independently as well as with me. I believe variation is key to finding the best learning style for a student as well as being aware that we all make mistakes and they are there to learn from. I have both mentorship and tutoring experience having taken part in a programme in college to help struggling GCSE students. Many of them managed to exceed their expectations and one student even jumped from a 5 in Maths to an 8 in GCSE with the right teaching methods.
In terms of tutoring, I have 1 year of experience teaching students of all abilities. Each student has had their grade increase by at least 1 and their confidence and willingness to learn has improved considerably. No matter your confidence level, I will be able to help you. I am excited to be able to help other students achieve the grades they deserve and are capable of.

Hi! I'm Katie, I'm 25 and I live in Lancashire, UK. I run my own science tutoring business, biologybykatie. I have always had a passion for education and loved my whole time through school, sixth form and university. I have a particular love for Science hence why I chose to complete my undergraduate degree in Biology. I am friendly, approachable and keen to help young people with their understanding of GCSE subjects. If I can play a part in a student's journey to success, it will be a great achievement for me. I am friendly, patient, understanding and therefore feel I will find some success in online tutoring. Please feel free to contact me with any queries - I am not limited to my subject preferences and would be open to tutoring other subjects. After all, tutoring helps keep my brain active and learning too!!

The subjects I teach include: - • 11 plus KS2 -Maths, English & Verbal reasoning preparation • Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Key Stage 1 - 4) • Mathematics (Key Stage 1 - 4) • Computer Science (Key Stage 3-4) • Design & Technology (Key Stage 3-4) I am an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a strong passion for teaching. I have gained experience working with whole class groups and individual pupils. I have also had the opportunity to work those with various additional needs which has enabled me to improve my skills in areas such as communication, behaviour management and maintaining a flexible approach to teaching styles to meet individual needs. I have supported hundreds of students, and their parents or carers, to identify strategies that enable the attainment above and beyond their subject target grades.
Tutoring Approach
My mission is to make a positive difference in the community’s children's lives through Education. I aim to encourage an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, for students of all ages, by unlocking learning potential and building confidence. Prior to the commencement of tutoring, I offer a free consultation session & free assessment to review the exact level of the students. Then with Students and their parents/carer, we review the current academic report with empathy and listen to the concerns surrounding the subject, including barriers to learning and discussion of appropriate learning styles. I subsequently construct an individual syllabus-specific course of study, aimed at achieving above and beyond the target grade. I provide regular feedback to parents/carers to ensure complete transparency and offer extra hours of tutoring if needed to cover the syllabus or exam preparation.

I am currently a 5th year medical student at Lancaster University. During my first year of studies at university I was tutoring my younger brother in GCSE chemistry, who went on to obtain an A grade. In the subsequent years, I have been tutoring A-level biology and chemistry and GCSE chemistry. Of the students I tutored, all have gone on to achieve their desired grades/obtain a place at their preferred university.
I have had a background in teaching as during my A-level studies I taught swimming lesson on a group and 1-2-1 basis, hence helping me develop the skills in order to deliver content to a class.
I am passionate about chemistry and biology and thoroughly enjoyed these lessons throughout school, however I recognise, like any subject, how certain aspects of the subject can be very challenging. I feel that by forming links in the subject to form a wider picture of the subject as a whole can help develop a better understand and overall make the content more interesting, and hopefully, more enjoyable.
I am looking to conduct my lessons online via services such as Skype and will be looking to focus on pupils at GCSE level.
I will aim to teach on an individual basis and find a method which suits the pupil best. Common methods I tend to have found work best involve styles such as using past paper questions and conducting a range of activities based around these questions such as breaking the question down and looking at each individual element. I have also found methods such as using a white board and showing diagrams on screen can work well to help try and explain concepts in a different manner. However like states above The teaching will be on an individual basis and I aim to find a method which the pupil will gain the most benefit from and hopefully makes the learning experience a bit more enjoyable.
