My name is Mariam and I am a Professional English Tutor. I have over 10 years experience and have dedicated my career to teaching both children and adults, helping them develop their language skills and build confidence in their abilities. Throughout this journey, I have refined my teaching methods to make learning an engaging, interactive, and effective experience for my students.
One of the key techniques I employ in my teaching is the use of presentations. By incorporating visually appealing slides, structured lessons, and clear explanations of grammar, vocabulary and much more.
Additionally, I integrate videos into my lessons to make learning more dynamic and relatable. Whether it is watching short films, listening to dialogues, or analysing real-life conversations, videos help students understand pronunciation, intonation, and context. These audiovisual resources create a more immersive learning experience, allowing students to engage with English in a natural way.
My teaching methods have led to remarkable success, particularly with children. Many of my young students have gained confidence in their English abilities whether this may reading, writing or speaking . As a result, they actively participate in class, express their thoughts more freely, and develop a genuine love for learning English. Their progress is evident in their academic performance, with many achieving high grades and excelling in their studies. Seeing my students succeed and grow into confident English speakers is one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching career.

I have a long track record of supporting young people into further and higher education, as well as apprenticeships and jobs. I can support with CV writing, College and University applications and writing personal statements/cover letters. From the beginning of their career journey when young people are exploring their options, through to the application and interview process I will help to ensure they achieve their goals. The apprenticeship application process is complicated and incredibly competitive. I have specialised in recent years in working with young people to secure places on apprenticeship schemes at organisations including Goldman Sachs, Santander, Jaguar Landrover and the BBC.

I am an experienced Geography Teacher, Examiner and former Geography Lecturer (at Bristol University and UWE) who has also published geography-based revision material for Hodder Education and Zig-Zag. I have tutored pupils with a range of different ability levels and academic needs. I offer a bespoke service for every pupil with a range of revision resources, marked model answers and revision timetables. As an examiner for AQA, CIE & OCR, I also mark tutee work at the correct, examiner level (which gives tutees a sense of exactly what goals they can achieve).
